OT - Reddit CFB Risk 2.0 Update 6/9: A New Beginning

Submitted by Michigan CFB R… on June 9th, 2019 at 4:56 PM

Hello MGoBlog,

It has been a full year since CFB Risk Season 1 started and today starts our Season 2.  It has been renamed CFB Risk Emoji Edition (most likely a joke from the reddit mods, stay tuned for an update in the upcoming days). We believe that this years game will incorporate some aspects of the popular board game Pandemic, so just stayed tuned while the game designers provide us all with more information.

Last year we placed 2nd overall and first as part of the Blue Alliance.  This year we have a few new enemy with Florida alongside our normal rivals OSU, MSU, and ND. If the mgoblog continues to support us as you did last year, all game long, we can win this thing, and knock out every one of them!

We are starting in the great city of Ann Arbor and eventually hope to paint the entire map Maize and Blue while eradicating our enemies. Please continue to participate and recruit your fellow Wolverine fans. If everyone here continues to participate, we can finish this game #1!

If anyone wants to watch the results with us tonight, the link to our discord is on the michigancfbrisk.com website. You're all welcome to join!

Announcement: Please don’t post your orders anywhere (mgoblog included). Other teams visit this blog in hopes of seeing what we will be doing, and it would be much better it if they were left in the dark. If you have a question about an assignment, try to ask it in general terms, instead of naming specific territories.

Steps To Play (It’s Really Easy):

  1. Sign up for a reddit.com account if you don’t have one already
  2. Visit https://flair.redditcfb.com/ " go to “find by conference," click “FBS” then “Big 10” and finally “Michigan” to set yourself as a member of our team. Click “Update Flair” to set it.
  3. Visit https://michigancfbrisk.com/ and click “Get Order!”
  4. Click the blue chessboard beneath the logo that you’re meant to attack (fight song) /defend (pep rally) to take you to the game.
  5. Scroll down, now, and on the right hand side of the screen, you will see the options that you can attack or defend. Click the school logo that you were assigned to.

>several schemes that hurt the overall alliance

The alliance seemed to do fine! Won overall and had both of the top two.

Maybe betrayal was an overreaction?

Do we think Michigan's leadership team could have done more to patch things up in the 11 months since? Florida's got a big userbase, it seems wasteful to throw that away.

Pterry is a Florida mod from last year that has been going out of his way to trash-talk Michigan and harass its Risk mod team for 11 months, while simultaneously playing the victim. The scheme I referred to was Florida having the Big Blue Wall last year. When we asked to take Wyoming, they refused immediately, then proceeded to put all of no one on Wyoming, because they were scared of us, leading to Reds taking Wyoming and subsequently attacking us. Just ignore the dude. He and another Florida mod orchestrated that mess.

Would it be worth signing up on other teams also?  Get their orders, do the opposite, general mayhem and other nefarious activities.

It's not a bad idea, there is a rule about alts though. You can make as many as you want but you have to notify the moderators before hand so that they can include all of the spy accounts in the Tell All after Risk ends this time around. If it is discovered that you had an alt and didn't notify the mod team you can receive a permaban from r/CFB. They have developed some system on their website that helps them identify which accounts are legitimate and which are not. No idea how, that stuff is over my head. Something to do with IP Addresses and comment history. There's a TL;DR that gives a good explanation somewhere on the main sub though if you want more info.

I'm not seeing an assignment on the Michigan CFB Risk site

Edit: Nevermind. I saw Michigan's logo and assumed that was just telling me what team I'm playing for. Realized it meant I should defend.

Let's say, hypothetically, that I participated last year but have forgotten my reddit login.  Having gone through the vetting process so that I could participate on the discord server last year, is there any chance you have some record of my reddit login?

Edited to note that I signed in with a throwaway email address, so recovering it via email is not an option.

Reddit login recovered.

Order obtained and executed.

Looking forward to continuing to serve.

Can someone remind me how we get to the page that shows what your star ranking is?

EDIT: Nevermind. It’s right there on the voting page. Didn’t notice it through the heart. Weird.

Based on hints the developers have given, the "emoji risk" is probably a fakeout and not the real game, which has been hinted to be CFBDemic, or a "Pandemic" themed game. It will likely be cooperative between the different fanbases instead of competitive.

Evidence: look at cfbrisk.com/index.html. Also the bottom of the risk voting page says "kindness is contagious."

The "mood" thing will likely have to do with that game
