Definitely wanted Glasgow back as a Lions fan but this is certainly more then I thought he was in line to get paid. Can only imagine what this means for how big of a contract Jonah Jackson is going to get on the open market.

Wouldnt mind kicking the tires on Evan Brown, he was a solid interior swing OL for the Lions before he left for Seattle. He just got cut so would probably come cheaper than Glasgow and give a decent floor for our other starting guard spot.

Uhhh, 3 years for $20 million is a really team-friendly deal for a decent starter who can play all 3 interior positions.  Especially seeing as the total NFL salary cap increased by 14% this year.  Players at every position are going to get a lot more contract money from now on.

I'd be fine with bringing Brown back as the first interior OL off the bench, but not as an expected starter at guard. He gets pushed back constantly, and while he is at least able to avoid giving up sacks and full-on pressures which made his PFF grade look decent, Jared Goff + the center of the pocket getting pushed back was and will always be a bad combo. I'd prefer an interior lineman who will give up a few more sacks, but otherwise much more reliably maintain the integrity of the pocket down-to-down to allow Goff to stay on platform and step into his throws.

While I'd like to see the Lions retain their full offensive line, I'm also okay with them signing a next-tier FA guard on a one-year deal and draft Zinter in the 3rd round. Total homer perspective, but I'm okay with that.

Keegan is going to be there in the 6th or 7th, but a great pick up....  If we are talking about FA Guards, I'm kinda surprised no one has mention the grape eating monster Micheal Onwenu, home town boy, top flight guard with the ability to kick out to Right Tackle IF the Lions do not extend Decker....

Would Mike give his home team a slight discount to have Mama's cooking everyday?

They need to think about replacing Ragnow sooner rather than later unfortunately too as (think next 2 years as a window) the guy is going to be year to year with the injuries unfortunately.   Sewell has a cousin who is the center at Oregon and could come over and be a LG and slide over to center when Frank is done.  But he might not make it to #29.  Barring that yeah a guard in the 2nd or 3rd makes sense - a lot of mocks have one going to the Lions with the first tho (along with a lot of CBs and DEs)

If they're planning on extending Goff, then they have to maintain the OL at top-3 level in the league. For Goff to excel, he has to be given time and kept clean. The Glasgow signing is great, and they need to push to re-sign Jackson too. Keep the OL humming, and then the offense will roll.

Someone is going to significantly overpay Jackson in FA. I think the Lions will end up signing multiple veteran OL and take another 1-2 in the draft and let them compete for the final starting OG spot.

The Lions front office are big fans of Cooper Beebee, G from KSU, since coaching him at the senior bowl. Every year weve aggressively pursued and drafted Senior Bowl targets and Id actually be surprised to not see Beebee drafted in the 3rd.

I mean its certainly possible. Ive seen Beebe mocked from the 2nd to the mid 4th. It seems him along with Hayes & Mahogany are sort of that Day 2 group of guards.

Adams out of Illinois is an interesting prospect for Round 4ish. He was really good at LG before having to move to RT.

This is exactly what the Lions were expecting.  They already have the highest payroll for OLine and they know they will have to back up the Brinks truck Sewell...

BTW - Jackson is gone... Signed with the Rams 3 years $51M... $17M is too much for the Lions budget.... They will being in another FA guard and draft at least 1.

Power-Johnson is the dream pick but most likely will not be there at 29 (unless Brad jumps up to grab him) - but there are plenty of high quality guards in the draft to grab one at 61 or 73...

That is a very reasonable contract from the team side of things, less than $10M guaranteed.  If Glasgow was a few years younger that number would be two or three times as large.

With Glasgow's performance and versatility this is an easy A+ re-signing.

Great signing that I was really pushing for. JJ is going to attract a huge contract so re-signing GG was a necessity. Drafting a G is highly likely.

Now go get some defensive help.

Detroit may suddenly be a desirable location with its player coach and innovative style of play and traveling/home fanbase. May get Goff re-signed based on a lesser amount and St. Brown and Sewell as well (while still generous amounts). Millions to play for a poor team may not be as attractive as it once was.

It's a great deal for both sides.  He has some age on him - will be 32 in July but like all of these contracts it is front loaded and they will be able to get out of it if he falls off age 34.  So more like a 2 year deal with a team option on year 3.

He is BFF with Ragnow and Decker and wanted to stay and was a top 15ish guard in the league last year by all accounts.  If he was 26 he would have been paid 2x.

He gets to play between the best RT in football and a top 3 center.   And can slide to center if Ragnow needs a "rest week" (although that guy is a warrior)

Jonah Jackson got $17M AAV - I think the Rams paid their 2 free agent guards $16M and $17M.  That seems a strange way to spend resources.

Detroit Lions trade their 3rd round pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for CB Carlton Davis and 6th round picks in the 24 & 25 drafts.

Davis was in the bottom half of the leagues CB's last season according to PFF, # 68 of 127 eligible players. Tampa couldnt afford him after the Evans and Mayfield deals so they're probably pretty happy about getting a 3rd for a potential cut candidate. Feel like a comparable, albeit likely older, CB could have been found in FA without giving up draft capital.

I wonder if Glasgow regrets giving the Lions a hometown discount considering there are a lot of OG getting PAID in the FA market. His contract is so low that it's laughable in comparison to the other OG's contracts.
