OT: Bears player Zach Miller in danger of losing leg after injury

This is really fucked up and makes me sad. Similar concerns existed for Teddy Bridgewater, Napoleon McCallum, and I'm sure quite a few others. I remember seeing McCallum's injury and it was beyond gruesome. I really hope Miller comes out of this fine and can resume his high quality of life.

After the Gordon Hayward injury I saw a list of "The 10 Worst Sports Injuries Ever."
It was your usual list with Theisman, etc. The list was completely wrong though, as it should have been the most gruesome injuries ever. The worst injuries would have to be ones like this, or those where they never walk again.

Not gonna lie, that second video on the SI article made me shiver. Gross injury and I'm praying for a fully and speed recovery for Miller.

I feel bad about being so angry that 10pts came off the board for my fantasy team. Yikes. I watched it live. Didn't seem that bad; no obvious twisting the wrong way kinda stuff. Scary.

The headlines this is getting (showed up on my google news feed, and I don't have a sports section there) suggests some of Harbaugh's reasoning for being coy about injuries. It's not just competitiveness in situations like this, but a desire to protect the privacy of his guys.
When Newsome got hurt we didn't get a full idea of the scope of the injury for weeks. But the timeline he went through is actually similar to Miller. Seeing front page stuff on ESPN saying "doctors trying to save MIller's leg" is disturbing for everyone, and in particular the player and his family.
I'm glad that, while Newsome's injury was very serious, the drama wasn't broadcast to the world. Let him and his family deal with it in a reasonable timeline.

This type of thing could happen in any sport where a 250 lb. human is jumping and landing on one foot. It was a non-contact injury. It had nothing to do with football.
I hope everything turns out okay for him in the long run.

The Michigan Difference.
Hope he has/had gotten the same level of medical care immediately. Hope they can save his leg.

University Medical Center in New Orleans is substantially closer to the Superdome than the U of M Hospital is to Michigan Stadium. With more stadiums now located near urban cores few aren't extremely close to a leading hospital in their communities, fortunately.

Imagine if they'd been playing at Purdue?!

My husband and I saw it live and then they had to go do the instant replay in slow motion. We both shrieked in sympathy pain/disgust. Wishing him a complete recovery.
