I like to think the Wisconsin game counts as a quality victory for us if they go 10-2.  If they lose to Iowa and Nebraska (or something along those lines) then we have to put up with a lot more of that "But who did they play" garbage until the OSU game.  Iowa isn't going to be seen as a quality win for us either way IMO, so I'd rather Wisky runs the table in the regular season from here on.

Also, if you care about conference bragging rights at all, one 10-2 team counts for more than a couple of 8-4ish teams do.  The teams at the top are always the first that get brought up in those conversations.  I don't care as much about conference bragging rights as some do, but there's that.

It just struck me that I've become so accustomed to seeing Big Ten teams play on FieldTurf that seeing a grass field like Northwestern's jumps out at me.

How many conference teams still play on grass fields?  Northwestern, PSU, Purdue, MSU - is that it?

Wisky's run game looking solid.  The way they played last week and the way they're looking already today makes me feel good about what we did.

TV #1

  1. NC State/L'Ville
  2. IU/Northwestern

TV#2

  1. Iowa/Wisky
  2. Texas/K-State

...not bad matchups. Usually there's a Minnesota/Purdue type stinker in there.

Rutgers scores!  That makes two quarters in a row for them!

Chris Ash is doing strong work behind that Garden State Fence, I tell you.

Iowa is a very complicated team. They had to score a TD late in the 4th quarter to beat Rutgers 14-7. They beat Minnesota 14-7. They played RichRod type defense and gave up 35 points to Purdue. And despite the 1 point score, were badly outplayed by North Dakota State.

We should pound those guys but you just know they're going to play a hell of a lot better against us.

That one was a crazy shootout.  ISU-NW was a defensive slugfest (9-7).  It's odd.  I did see the end of that game and Fitzgerald definitely mismanaged the clock at the end, but it shouldn't have been close.

Fitzgerald has done a nice job getting his team off the mat since then, though.

W will have a lot coming back next year.  Senior starters are Clement, Wheelwright on offense, Biegel, Shelton and Musso on defense.  They need some easier touchdowns though.  When they were great Clement and previous RBs were housing it from 70.
