ND DE Ovie Oghoufo in the transfer portal

A name to keep an eye on in the transfer portal. He's 6'3 240lb DE who has totaled 33 tackles and 5 sacks at ND. Oghoufo is originally from Farmington, MI and grew up a Michigan fan. He also has a Michigan connection in Mario Ojemudia who is his cousin. Michigan did offer him when he was a recruit but he committed to ND soon after the offer.

If Michigan gets its defensive staff settled soon, it would be good to pursue some more depth at the DE spot with Paye leaving and no clear heir apparent at the position (maybe Luiji Vilain?).

Sounds about right... when we desperately needed a DT transfer, we instead got a DE in Danna... while he was a great addition, we needed DT transfer, as we do now.   Unless the plan is to bulk him up and play inside  /s

There are a couple big Clemson DT's in the portal:

  • 4 star Jordan Williams 6-4 310 RS junior
  • 4 star Nyles Pinckney 6-1, 300 Grad Transfer with immediate eligibility

Clemson, unlike UM made DT an absolute priority. I think they had 20 at one point. These guys were replaced by younger players so are concerned about playing time.

They would play here.

I think he is more of an OLB at 240 pounds.   He had 7 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks this past year.  He has 22 tackles, 8 solo's, and 2.5 sacks in two years at ND.

I hope something happens soon with the staff. At this point, I will have the same reaction if JH is extended or chooses to leave/let go. We need to be able to move on. What transfer will commit to a program with no position coach and a head coach that isn't committed.

The reason I'm saying that is we need a decision if he's staying or going. It's hurt recruiting, and the unknown is worse. I'm not a JH apologist, but if he's staying he needs to come out and say it. If he's leaving, that needs to be said ASAP.

My reaction to whatever the decision is will be "finally".
