The defensive highlights are indeed the story of this game. 159 yards allowed over 53 defensive snaps, which is 3.00 yards per play, and buried in there is only about 2.5 yards per rush allowed, which if we keep that up puts us in a pretty good position for the rest of the way, I would think.
One thing that I find sort of amusing on offense - 349 yards gained and 14 points over 76 snaps on offense. We made an otherwise paltry 0.18 points per play work for us - that's another way you know the defense was great sometimes.

A common description of our 14-7 victory yesterday was "old school football," but it's even more old-school than many might imagine.
The last time we defeated somebody by that same score? 1977, against Navy.
The last time before that was 1955, against MSU.
The score becomes a bit more common in years before that, with 14-7 wins coming in '54, '49, '47, '46, '41, and '32. That's it.
In the course of winning 930 games since 1879, I would have bet good money we'd have more 14-7 victories than just nine. What's more basic-sounding than one team scoring two touchdowns and the other scoring one TD?

Something I didn't notice until watching this video: On the play where Speight threw the interception, he was also the one who pushed the interceptor out of bounds.

His are sufficient for those who just want to see one-sided footage. But 10 years from now or even 5, you're gonna go back and wanna relive the whole story of the game. Imagine the 2011 game vs OSU and ND with just our scores only as their point totals mysteriously climb despite them not scoring on screen.

Was TJ Watt freaking out because he thought Hill didn't get in on his touchdown plunge? I noticed right away from my seat in Section 4 when he started flailing his arms maniacally and gesturing like he was hopping mad. Looked pretty obvious that Khalid's upper body (with the ball) was clearly over the goal line before his knees touched.
