I have no kids....that I know of.
Miraval rose...a nice hot weather wine.
Wishing my dad was still with us to celebrate on Sunday. Still miss him even though it has been many years.
Oberon. Had a Jim Beam Black neat earlier at the bar. Wish I had more at home.
PS: Have a 20 y.o. daughter, she's in LA this weekend with friends. We'll see if she remembers Father's Day.
Father of two girls, the younger of whom I'll be escorting to Mall of America tomorrow morning to meet one of her favorite YouTube stars. Mom will be taking the older one to see Ocean's Eight. Sunday calls for French toast, some World Cup action, a trip to the arboretum, and probably grilling steaks as the US Open winds down. It's ridiculously muggy at the moment, so what's in my glass? MobCraft Batshit Crazy brown ale. Seems appropriate.
One son here...will be enjoying Crown Royal & have some family over this weekend...maybe an afternoon nap Sunday!
Spoke too soon. Now out of beer and So hot and sticky I’ve had to switch to the wife’s Green Apple Smirnoff. Too humid for my bourbon.
Arboretum is a nice spot. Where in the Twin Cities are you?
Carver
/checks Google maps
Wow--that's a bit out there. But close to the Renaissance Faire! And I'm assuming Valley Fair, if that's still around?
Yup, about 10 minutes from the Renaissance fair and 20 from Valleyfair
My kids and wife are taking me to see The Incredibles 2 tonight as a kind of throw-back to when they were little, and then a weekend of dad stuff to include a lake test of a couple Hobie Pedalboards. They look fun but they're pricey so I want to test them first.
But mainly grilling steaks and whatnot, drinking various red wines, and naps.
For a third of the price, why not a paddleboard? They're fun, good exercise and can be as rigorous or relaxing as you want.
I'm looking forward to seeing Incredibles 2 as well. Anyone with teenage kids has likely seen the first one about 85 times. If you don't have kids and have never seen it, I still highly recommend it.
owner of a 120 pound Labrador Retriever. not sure that counts but i get the almost a parent fun of spending $1100 on him next week. somehow he broke a molar and needs it extracted before it gets infected. Fun.
drinking Mandarin Orange Seltzer water.
Sunday Plans: working an Open House.
Smoker is out and started.....pork shoulder, ribs, and chicken. Maryland Blue Crabs, sides, and beer 9mostly New England IPA's (Two Juicy). The Col E H Taylor bourbon can wait until tonight. Cornole tourney, Molkyy, fire pit and cigars each night. 3 grown up Wolverines left the coup.
You might have won Father's Day
I read this and wondered if it was some lovely color followed by an unexpected dollop of insider info, but I think the 3 you're referring to are your kids.
One son born 1994. Almost named him Mercury. I'm thinking he is going to buy drinks for me at Long Road later on tonight. Nothing better than a MichiGin and tonic.
Johnny Walker Black with a few cubes because it's 92 out.
Only my son home this weekend so maybe bro-cave PS4 Borderlands and watching World Cup.
Old Nation - Green Stone, an American pale ale (5.5%, IBU 40)
same brewery as M43
This ones also hazy and smooth but a bit milder than M43. Quite good
First year dad! Excited to celebrate with my little man
I have five kids. They will all be with me on Sunday except my oldest son who is training with the Army at Fort Lee. We will BBQ with my kids, my sisters, their families, and my dad. A little Jack Daniels Honey with some Vernors is my drink of choice this weekend.
My little wolverines are 6 & 4 so we’re taking them downtown Chicago to explore. At some point there will be several Makers Manhatthans enjoyed.
3 kids. Heading to Six Flags on Sunday. Drinking a Pepsi Free right now and watching a nice Adirondack sunset.
3 teenage sons. I'm in denial about the upcoming college expenses.
Just cracked open a growler of Bent Paddle 14 ESB, an excellent example of an underappreciated style of beer, which I picked up on my way through Duluth earlier this week.
All 3 kids don't have a choice but to spend it with me! 4yo, 2yo and 6mon. Since I'm out of Dank Juice I'll have to find another solid IPA or dIPA... Any recommendations?
Do you live in Michigan? Meijer is now selling Jai Alai from Cigar Ciry Brewing in Tampa (Ybor). It is one of my favorites.
5 year old twins had Father’s Day picnic today at school in 100 degree weather. Went to a fav wing spot for dinner. Couple of Dales Pale Ales at dinner and now settling for an ice cold Miller Lite while they destroy the back yard. They are now creating “cars” to roll down a hill in the yard. Shaping up to be an emergency room type of night.
Two Hearted. Again
1 son about to turn 3....tomorrow we're gonna find out what he thinks of kayaking, fishing, and camping. Currently drinking espolon at the patio bar where I work
Sitting in my two year old twins’ room bc they now scream for me to sit while they go to sleep this week. Annoying but at least I have a cocktail and mgoblog. I can text my wife shit that needs to be done.
Advice from an old man: enjoy every moment.
First year of being a step dad to an 8 and 4 year old. I picked up a rare find (for Florida) of Founders Breakfast Stout. Its gonna be me, my 4 pack, and some NHL 18 on the PS4 while my girl prepares a Nicaraguan feast for me and the rest of the family. Sunday is gonna be a good one.
What is a Nicaraguan feast?
The dish she told me she was making is a big Spanish word I can't pronounce. I dont ask what it is I like the surprise. Usually its some form of seasoned rice with black beans and a meat cooked with veggies. From the amount of groceries I helped bring in its going to be way more than that this time around.
Cool. Sounds good.
Had an All Day IPA with dinner. Probably go bowling tomorrow if it rains with wife and daughter. Told wife I would be happy if we can get to any brewery this weekend to have a beer.
Just found out 3 days ago that next year will be my first father's day. We're visiting her family in Michigan this weekend. Got to tell them in person and not over video chat.
You told us before her family!! That’s awesome.
Lol, no. We got in yesterday and told them last night.
One great son, we are going to Steve Miller and Peter Frampton on Sunday. Tonight it’s Alaskan Summer on the pontoon.
Son is taking me to HOMES beer festival at Vets park tomorrow. Daughter is on a vacation by herself in S. Africa. She's hanging with some Harvard boys in a hostel watching World Cup.
Hang with the kids doing whatever they want to do. Two Hearted on tap. Should be a wonderful day!
I have one son who is at his 8th grade end of school year dance right now. I am off to walk a friend’s dog in his place. The boy ‘earned’ $30 for 4 days of dog-walking of which wifey and I will have done >50%. Give him credit, though, he rescued the dog from a skunk yesterday. He took some incoming fire. We were able to get him cleaned up for the dance.
EDIT: not drinking anything just yet, but give me time and...
Ha, that would have been a nice addition to the dance -- Fragrance de' Pepe le Pew!
Had our first son almost 3 years ago. We added a baby girl last Dec. It's been a hell of a ride, but things sure aren't boring.
No children but have an adopted bonsai tree, drinking some Evil Twin Irish-ish Coffee Stout
Had a founders dank wood and now sipping some bulleits. Sunday we are going over to my parents for breakfast. Already got my gift from the wife and twins, a beer of the month subscription. Then Sunday will end with playing some lacrosse in my old mans league going to be going to be hot as balls but will still be playing lacrosse.
