Hoke's OL as of today & other presser bits

Submitted by JeepinBen on

At today's press conference when asked "if the season started today" Hoke's response on the OL was:

Cole - Mags - Miller - ??? - Braden

Kalis is back practicing today, could be him, Bosch or Burzynski at RG. Hoke claimed he likes Miller at C, Braden and Cole have been good - "you don't notice Cole" which I guess is a good thing for a Tackle, he's not getting constantly beat.

Where will Glasgow fit when he's back from suspension?

Also despite Peppers looking awesome at corner Hoke says he's going to start at Nickel before they throw him out at Boundary often. That said, my guess is we'll see a lot of him.

Wondering where Graham fits in after the first game. Finding it hard to believe that he would fall off the map when he is by far the most experienced lineman on the roster and was the only anchor in the black hole that was Michigan's 2013 interior line.

Does he displace Miller? Kalis/Bosch? Or does he go to LG and bump Mags to LT?

I'm hoping for option 1, then 2, then 3. If it's 3 I'd hate to think that Cole burned his RS for nothing.

That said, a true freshman will be Alabama's starting LT too this year..

He got hurt in the scrimmage. Ankle or foot thing... they taped it up and sent him back out, only to pull him again after a few plays. He was walking normally off the field from what I could tell, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was being held out (these things tend to be worse the day or two days after they happen). And, there's also the suspension thing, so they may just be trying to find their Aug30 lineup right now.

Someone asked if Glasgow would replace Miller, Hoke that was one possibility.

I think Glasgow is the leader at RG right now.  Not sure if that slides Kalis (whom Hoke confirmed is working at both OG spots) to LG and Magnuson to LT, or if that means Kalis, Bosch, and Joey are on the outside looking in.

Just watched the presser and saw that. So really when Glasgow comes back the last real competition is between Kalis and miller. I know they don't play the same position, but it comes down to which combination results in a better line. (I don't buy that Glasgow won't start for a second)

Okay okay okay chill out guys. Braxton Miller said he's transferring to play OL for Michigan. Damn Hoke really is changing the tide. "Miller was quoted in the recent Freep interview as being a better OL than everyone we have so he's gonna transfer because he likes Hoke that much"

Could it be that Hoke can't identify a top RB because none of them can gain any yards with the current state of our OL? Honest question.

Running back is a position where you can really shuffle in as many guys as you want. I think he has an idea of who he likes but he wants to see who performs the best in a game scenario. Whereas the offensive line is a position group you want to avoid screwing with, running back rotations don't really hurt you in any way.
