Honestly, this was a classic case of HGS... Hot Goalie Syndrome. Volkening didn't give up ANY rebounds even though we outshot them more than 2-1. I watched this game with a bunch of Air Force grads 'cause I work on a USAF base here in Ohio, and let me tell you, this was the biggest win for them in DECADES-- literally. A full bird colonel who played for the academy right when they turned D-I broke down and cried after the game. If we were going to lose to a #4 seed, I'd rather it be Air Force than any other team. Lets face facts Michigan team, we went from a 7th place CCHA team risking our tournament streak to a #1 seed even though we lost our #1 forward unexpectedly (Max Patches), 2 of the leading scorers in the nation to graduation, and our #1 defenseman for almost the whole season, all the while playing an untested soph goalie who didn't soil the sheets in his first tournament start. Bottom line for me-- I don't feel as bad about this game as I did after the NoDak debacle from two years ago, or the ND game from last year. We lost a tough game to a hot goaltender and the best team in our opposition school's history. I'll live and I look forward to next year.

i want to kill myself but at least it wasn't a last second or OT loss ala holy cross over minnesota or us in the frozen four last year. i was able to come to terms with the loss over 20 minutes and thus i want to kill myself a little less

My love/hate relationship with the four-round neutral site single elimination NCAA hockey tournament continues. Ice Hockey can be such a fickle, fluky thing.

Has a connection to the Princeton athletic department. I asked him about a month ago if he could use it to get Frozen Four tickets. He informed me yesterday that he could. Awesome.
