Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will.  Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear.  Protect my family.

      Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm.  Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance.  Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me.  Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

      If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.

      Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.

Almighty AMHF, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of the plays and disciplined to my gaps.  Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against wheel routes in practice and games and helping me to play well so that I can face my fellow Wolverines, my coaches and the Fans withough shame or fear.  Protect the football.

Give me the will to do the work of a Wolverine and to accept my share of the the responsibility with vigor and enthusiasm.  Grant me the courage to be profecient in my game performance.  Keep me loyal and faithful to my teammates and to the duties the Playbook and the coaches have entrusted me.  Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me of the traditions which I must uphold.

If I am inclined to miss a tackle, steady my reaction time;  if I am tempted to jump a route, make me strong to resist or make the interception;  if I should miss my gap, give me the courage to try again.

Eh. My dad was first battalian first Marines in Vietnam, 69 to 70 and loved the Marines. He carried the M-60. But he tells anyone to stay a million miles away from the service now.  Doesn't think the government is doing anything but using the soldiers to go chase down money and resources for big business.

Figures that quote would be coming from a general.  Being it usually isn't their lives in danger.

Anyone that can get our kids back home and safe is cool with a lot of military families. Even the so-called war protesters.

My father was a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserves stationed at the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001.  At one time many would have thought that a desk job in the crypts of the Pentagon would have been as safe as it gets.  But, alas, that turned out not to be the case and we went hours without knowing whether he was one of the casualties.  He actually was in one of the corridors that was destroyed and was lucky to get out alive (some of his co-workers were not).

So you might want to temper your statements or at least qualify them in some manner because, to be honest, I could care less what your father thinks about the government and politics (taboo!).

The Vets celebration UM had at the big house last saturday was amazing. They let us on the field during pregame and during the anthem.  Got some good pictures.

Tonight (Veteran's Day) on HBO, watch "Wartorn: 1861-2010" at 9PM. It's a documentary about post-traumatic stress disorder on US Military veterans. Looks amazing.

Also, a documentary about the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan called "Restrepo" looks amazing as well, but I haven't seen it yet.
