Frank Beckman on Huge
Frank was on Huge a few minutes ago. Not a whole lot of new information, but there were some great moments when he was very positive about the program, blowing Bill off when he asked questions about adversity with in the program. Here's the link to the show's page:

The podcasts are along the right side of the page.
He did say that on the opening kickoff of today's scrimmage, Darryl Stonum ran it back 100 yards. That's a pretty awesome way to head into the season. I am excited about a big year from Stonum.

Watching the kickoff, it looks like it was a shorter kick and Stonum just had a great seam. Considering how good he has been on kickoffs so far, I'm not inclined to read too much into the return other than the fact that he is really dangerous.

I don't think that was *THE* coverage team. Probably scout team.
I'd be willing to bet that a lot of kids who are on the kickoff team are also on the kickreturn team.
Also the return team was wearing gameday jerseys with nameplates. Kickoff team was wearing white practice uniforms.

we gave up a TD return. it's the coverage team that i think RR was more concerned about.

Yeah, but you can say that about anything. If the offense has a nice play then you can see the defense as having troubles, and if the defense forces a turnover then the offense could be having issues.
Can't it be that Stonum just had a great kickoff return?

This. Is. Awesome.
Definitely want to see this guy take a few more kicks to the house before his career at M is over.

Did Huge talk about Miller Lite at all?

For real! Or did he ask if he has golfed with Pete Secchia or Tom Izzo? Maybe they are going to Brann's to eat from the Economizer menu. Dear God I hate huge. What an absolute abomination his show is. Ugh.

Huge was actually deferential to Beckmann. He doesn't sound nearly as pompous as usual when he has someone he apparently respects to keep him in line.

Great interview, Beckman telling it like it is. I wonder when Valenti or Sharp will have Beckman on for an honest and real discussion about UM football.

They never will, if only because Frank has his own show in Detroit that competes with 97.1

Beckman is the light in the dark storm of naysayers. I got the feeling that he convinced Huge a bit about the positive state of the program

Love Frank Beckmann. Can't replace Bob Ufer, but Beckmann has been pretty good since he took over. Can't complain. As much continuity we had with our football program before RR, we've had even more in the radio booth.

as awesome as Frank is Huge sucks donkey balls. i hate that any of our people go on his show...they should all boycott it till he gets the boot up the arse he deserves. worst sports talk show in the country by a mile.
That said, the stonum nugget has me drooling!

Well aside from WTKA in the mornings, NONE of the local stations bother reaching to guys like Beckman. So, props to Huge for getting RR, Brandon, and Beckman on their air. The other guys would rather spew the same uniformed garbage and dismiss anyone who has actual ties to the program because they aren't credible to talk about UM

is a man among boys. We should be gotdam lucky to have him. Calls a good game, has a great repartee with Brandy, and is the best thing going on the radio.
