True Blue Grit

even though the football program is a dumpster fire, the rest of the athletic teams are doing great for the most part.  We have awesome swimming, basketball, gymnastics, softball, and wrestling programs right now (sorry if I missed a few) among others.  So, if you're feeling down in the dumps about football, try going to or watching one of these other sports teams in action.

Dumpster fire is far too generous.

We are a trash factory that both produces trash and is composed of trash. Not only that but the people overseeing the trash factory are incompetent, and oh no, something has gone wrong with one of the machines causing it to catch fire. The fire is spreading, and now the trash factory is burning to the ground, creating even more trash while simultaneously poisoning the atmosphere with our toxic fumes. There were no survivors.

The end.

It is true. It is not close to getting better. I am bracing for the worst. I wonder how Michigan will screw up the coaching search this time?

Whatever one thinks of Mr. Forde or his motivations; regardless, as to the validity of the definitive term, 'Dumpster Fire'; it must be acknowledged that his final statement is resolute truth. 'The only thing worse than Michigan letting Hoke go would be keeping him.' Rather poignant, I thought.

Clickbait, and also false.  Michigan is one head coach hire away from being an elite program again, as there is talent in the pipeline to win 8-10 games next year.  There is a big difference between a clown show and a dumpster fire.  SMU football is a dumpster fire.  Michigan State football circa 2002 was a dumpster fire.

Notre Dame football circa 2009 was a clown show.  A lot of bad football, but raw materials that, in the right hands, would be a successful football program.

Our program could become a true dumpster fire if the University does not hire a good coach. Harbaugh could turn the program around quick. I just worry the University president is going to want to go the cheap route! Either by keeping Hoke or by not hiring one of the top 5 coaches available!

Especially after the latest games we've seen.  ND losing to NW after almost beating FSU.  Penn State nearly beating Ohio and Minnesota playing well against Ohio to some degree.   There is more parity than we thought and stranger things have happened.  We could win the next two.  Maybe some bad weather in Columbus will help us.... who knows?

Totally agree.

I prefer to think of us as a small but manageable tire fire. Maybe a couple of tires, OK, a jack and a few other tools can be in there, too. And a car seat. Definitely a car seat. But nothing more.

All right, maybe a few July 4 egg salad leftovers that were in the very back of the fridge. But that's it.

and it doesn't sound like I need to. If you listen in class, you can pass the test without reading the book (to clarify, I do read books) and if you read the comments, you can figure out how much, if any, you are missing by not giving media tool-bags their coveted clicks. It sounds like Ford's criteriae for "dumpster-fire"-hood combine variables (lack of constraint by any system of law, breakdown in the fundamental functions of an educational institution, football team won-lost percentage) without any functional relationships and jumble them together until the word-salad that spews out is void of any informative or factual relevence. I would say that, until DB was dumped, UM AD was in a dark place. The changes since indicate to me that UM has people capable of taking meaningful actions in timely fashion, and, therefor, until we find out otherwise, UM is on a trajectory to end up in fine shape with a better institutional reputation than FSU of UNC will ever get to, and with a winning program to boot. And Ford will then offer to polish our collective soul-dong, and we will turn our collective back on him and tell him to fuck off. But it won't matter because UM is bigger than anything Ford will contrive in his search for click-bait.
