Football Review: Charley's Tonight
They both seem a little shy of posting it for various reasons, so I'll do it for them:
Every Tuesday, Devin Gardner (Michigan QB 2012-2014) and Michael Spath (WTKA "Inside The Huddle" host) do a "Football Review" of the previous Saturday's game at Good Time Charley's in Ann Arbor.
Officially, this starts at 8; usually if you show up by 8:30 they're getting set up, if not a little later. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn something.
Devin's a great host and is happy to break down plays, explain some of the "why" of decisions behind the play, good things that happen that weren't initially caught, bad things that broke the play, etc.
The last few have had only a handful of participants; they'd love to have more.
If you're in Ann Arbor, have strong opinions on playcalling and performance of Michigan Football, are an armchair coach, like MGoBlog's "Upon Further Review" segments (especially offensively), or just like football and a good drink, you should come out!

Sounds fun. If I wasn't a nine hour drive away I'd be there.

Can't you just swing from tree-to-tree and get there quicker?
October 22nd, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
Can't do that. Power lines can look like vines when you are making good time.
:-) I would fly there, but we lost our wings when the boss got whacked.

I don't get any of this...but it's still humorous

It's to do with the shtick MeanJoe07 and I have here. We both have mammals (mine an intelligent, cute chimp and his a verminous, nasty little, matted fur, foul tempered koala) as avatars and we have banter back and forth.
A couple of years ago he offered to be my MGoArchEnemy and I declined at the time, but later realized it was more fun to have an MGoArchEnemy and accepted the gauntlet he threw down.
So, I've ended up adding a lot of chimp pictures to my posts and some of my posts are made from what I perceive would be a simian point of view.

My mgoenemy is umbig11, but only because hehateme.

Hate is counterproductive. He should drop it assuming he really feels that way.

Did you finally run MeanJoe over? I haven’t seen the Koala in a while.
October 22nd, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
Got one of them, not sure if it was MeanJoe or not.

Agreed. What the world needs now is love.

Mine is Timmmaay. But he doesn't give me the time of day. Dick.

damn..... everyone's getting an enemy. Use caution, thanks to the wonders of auto correct you might end up with an MgoArch enema.

Was I hallucinating seeing Devin Gardner play in 2010 and 2011?
October 22nd, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
No, but he was not the starting QB (in fact, for both those years and a chunk of 2012 he played WR).
He's officially known as "Michigan's quarterback" for 2012-2014; much like how Denard Robinson wouldn't be considered "Michigan's quarterback" in 2009 but rather 2010 and 2011.

I went to these last year. Devin is terrific. I didn’t know Spath but he was not the best host. I would go again if I wasn’t too busy.

Dammit. Meant to reply to Doc Toboggan.

No amount of beer or count sticks can get me to go to a Spath event (and also I'm 500 miles away but nevermind that).
October 22nd, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
He said some people would feel that way, especially on MGB.
The majority of talking is done by Devin; Michael seems to be more on organization and production sides of things.
October 22nd, 2019 at 5:20 PM ^
If Spath stays home, l am sure there would be a better audience.
October 22nd, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
Same here. Not going to listen to Spath for a couple of hours by choice.

hmmmm someone spath in your wheaties?

I have a great deal of respect for Devin Gardener. Never met him, but I'm tempted to come back to A2 just to shake his hand.
October 22nd, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
Absolutely. Great guy who had the misfortune to be here at a terrible point in the program's history.

I wish they were doing these in the Royal Oak area, in addition to Ann Arbor, like they did last year. It was a ton of fun and by the last few weeks they’d almost outgrown the space.
Spath aside, if anyone is on the fence about going they definitely should. Devin does a fantastic job of translating the chalk talk into a language everyone can understand.

I think the last time I was in Charley’s was about 1988. I was sitting at the bar with my roommate when Jim Harbaugh, fresh off his rookie year with the Bears, walked in by himself. He was there for about five minutes and walked out with about a half dozen girls.

I thought it was Wolverine from 6-8? Does he do both?

They should turn it into a YouTube series.
