Focusing on PSU...

It's a pretty difficult task spinning the college football headline narrative in Top 25 2-1 Michigan's favor at the moment.

There's varying degrees of anger from the bad performance against Wiscy. The good news this season is MSU (in 3 weeks in Madison) and OSU both have to play them in the regular season also. PSU lucked up and missed out on all that slobber knocking fun.

Judging by Wisconsins remaining schedule they'll be 11-1 at worst, setting up a rematch in Indy with one of these teams.

Since we lost in embarrassing fashion, everybody concludes we suck just like the same Wisky team, MSU, and PSU we destroyed just last season.

So what will the PSU narrative be if/when we beat them in Beaver Stadium this year? Is their coach gone if he loses to us, MSU, and OSU for the second straight year?

PSU is actually a MUCH bigger game than Wisconsin due to our recruiting footprint, division record, and season sanity.

**Also, We play PSU in 4 weeks... Is there any way, with all the analysis our fans do with breaking down our own film of already played games, we could get discussions on PSU's games from this season?

Their defense is much improved, but their offense is much of the same and not as good as their final scores would indicate. They've struggled all the first halves.

Welcome to 2019.  It seems you’ve missed out on all the other Harbaugh road games against ranked opponents.  Why anyone would believe for a moment that we should be able to win there is mind boggling.  It’s gotta be some kind of trauma that involves hopelessly thinking the next time has to be a win.

IF we don’t get run out of beaver stadium and actually manage to win that game then I will start entertaining the idea of going into a ranked teams house and winning.

Until then I’ll just chalk it up as a loss.

Any money on losing to Rutgers? If Jimmy boy cant inspire against Wisconsin... why would the team perform against Rutgers. Just saying this is the final dagger game.

@PSU in what will likely be their "white out" game.  Camp Randall is the second hardest place to play in the conference, Happy Valley is the toughest especially when its a white out.  Given our issues on the road this isn't ideal.

PSU is running effectively the same offense we are and they don't have an elite RB/QB combo so they run into a lot of the same issues we have been having.  They have solid slot receivers and a deeper pool of RB's.

Clifford isn't lighting up the stat sheet.  58% comp rate and Pitt really stuck it to them, however that was a super wet and rainy game where offense was at a premium.

We have the better defense and they have the better offense.

It is a winnable game for us.  They aren't as good as Wisconsin/OSU/MSU.

That's pretty much my what I gathered from watching them. Not very efficient and rely on big plays. They're pretty much a mirror image of us but with a solid stable of running backs. They also haven't played a Wisconsin caliber team yet. Their game with MSU's run D (after Sparty faces OSU then Wisconsin) will be interesting.

I dont think any B1G teams I've seen this year outside of OSU will be able to handle Wisconsin's Oline along with Taylor's patience and vision. It was like watching the old Cowboys and Emmitt.

I say we extend our recruiting footprint into Wisconsin and get some offensive linemen (YES I know Bredesen is from Wisconsin)

Do yourself a favor and chalk PSU up as a loss now.  Michigan does have it in them to play well at home, so MSU and Iowa could somehow work out.  For ways the Penn State game can go, look to the Hoke era in Happy Valley.  A win would be extremely lucky and also likely horrible to watch.

To your other point, purely as a college football fan, Ohio State vs Wisconsin  should be entertaining both times.

Focus on the next game. Not PSU. Thats how it works. Beat the opponent in front of you before you worry about the opponent coming up after.  I'm hoping that the wake up call is coming this week. If not it will be a long and hard season.

After the display we put on them, including the mocking, old chode head is gonna be going for 2 up by 50 with 2 seconds left. If shit doesn’t change this could be as bad if not worse than Wiscy. Hopefully Day isn’t the douche nozzle he looks like and takes his foot off our throats in November. I think the offense can be fixed but unless there’s 10, 4 star defensive tackle walk ons roaming campus I don’t think the line can. I’ve been doing some deep thinking while trying to defend Harbaugh and find faith but the attrition just sticks out as a deeper issue that we’re now paying for.

BRENT VENABLES.

He's the best defensive mind in college football today.  Seems to be the only DC in college football capable of stopping Elite modern offenses (i.e. in CFP formats).

Only 48 yrs old.  Has been the #2 man at top-5 programs (Oklahoma/Clemson) for the past 20 yrs (since he was 28 yrs old).  An excellent recruiter -- Rivals' 2016 National Recruiter of the year.

Knows how it's done at a top program.  Has enough experience to be ready 3 or 4 times over.  No black marks, violations, accusations in his history.  Could probably bring one of Clemson's co-OC's with him (Tony Elliott--the more proven offensive mind *or* Jeff Scott--the elite recruiter).

Dabo, Kirby Smart, Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day -- 4 of the coaches at top-5 programs in the country assumed their current positions with no prior HC'ing experience.

The answer is clear.  I personally think he's the next Nick Saban.
