Feagin's first look at QB

Submitted by MaizeAndBlueWahoo on
Not bad, I think, although the only thing we have to go on is his running.  Never pitched on the option or threw it.  A little bit hesitant to make a mistake? or maybe just that's how the plays shook out.  Either way, looked good carrying the ball.  I like having the different look when he's in the game, too.

It's hard to call that "quarterback", they didn't ask him to throw, or run an option. Every play was a designed keeper.

he didnt do bad when he ran...he looked good...we know he cant learn the system, so he was our tebow and sheridan was our leek (even though that sounds so wierd to say)

Why mock the kid?  He did what was asked of him, and pretty well I would say.  If he continues to see time, I imagine we'll see a run/pass option play worked in for him next time around.

I didn't mean to sound as if I was mocking him. He had a huge run, and I think he did as much as he could. I'm merely saying that he wasn't asked to make a single decision - he basically played running back. And he did so well.

I am surprised they even put him in for that. I was expecting them to run with him 3-4 times and then try a short pass to odoms or something. I think it would have been better if they had tried that with McGuffie or Shaw.

But if you put in a tailback there, you're basically telegraphing a run.  With Feagin it was more of a mystery.  But from here on out, it can't be a run every time.

I think that the instructions from the coaches on the run/pass option were probably along the lines of "only throw it if there is no Gopher within 15 yards of a receiver".

Feagin did look like a gamer out there though.

We were moving the ball on the ground easily with everyone today.  I wouldn't expect the same results with Feagin in the next two games, unless NW has a horrible run-D.

Dude, are you this obnoxious all the time?  In every thread here you seem to be badgering other posters with nitpickety comments.

OK, it wasn't the punt fake, it was the play right after.  Regardless, that was the only time he found daylight.

When you say Minor had a bad day becaus most of his yards came "on a punt fake", and I point out that's not true, that's not nit-picking. That's pointing out that the very premise of the post is incorrect. I'm sorry if that's not what you meant, but it's what you wrote.

I'm fairly certain that what we saw with Feagin today was the evolution of the Carlos Brown Wildcat package. Given that CB is out for the season, Feagin is a logical successor to the directsnap/designed run package. He's played QB and has the necessary "tools" (basic reads, hand-offs) to run a package, even if he is an indifferent/miserable passer.

Seeing a quarterback that can throw (Sheridan) and a quarterback that can run (Feagin) got me very excited and hopeful for the future, when we have a quarterback that can throw *and* run!

Feagin looked good doing what he did.  When he came off to the sideline after his first play, the camera flashed over to him real quick, and he looked hella nervous in that quick glance...  kinda jittery.  He's an 18 year old kid, though, in his first game at QB, that's to be expected.  I'm excited to see him in the future, whether it be at QB, at slot, or whatever. He's quick, and will no doubt improve skill-wise.

Can anyone fill me in on what the "he's just not ready / not getting it" in regards to Feagin means that we've heard all season. Does he have no arm to speak of or is it more along the lines of can't remember more than one play at a time?
