The dust has settled - predict the top four

Submitted by ChopBlock on

Essentially, we have 4 teams vying for three playoff spots. Alabama will be the #1 seed of course, but for spots 2-4, the following teams are in the race (astersik = conference champion). Sorry Oklahoma, better luck next year.

Ohio State 11-1

Clemson 12-1*

Washington 12-1*

Penn State 11-2*

Do Clemson and/or Washington jump Ohio State? Does conference champion Penn State squeak into the #4 spot? Post your predicted top 4!

you desire competitive games and great television ratings. It's Alabama vs Michigan. Ohio State vs Washington. Next game Michigan vs Washington. Winner Michigan. That's what I think.

It will stay the same. Ohio State should come out but the CFP committee would rather piss off Penn State than Ohio State. They're not going to undo what has been already been semi-set in stone. One thing is certain: Ohio State skated this year. With a loss to Penn State, an almost loss to Northwestern (why no one talks about that game, I don't know), a 1 point win over a 3-8 Michigan State team, and a 2 OT win against Michigan at home with a bunch of questionable calls that could have yielded a different outcome, they should not even be close to #2.

1. Ped State can't jump us, after losing 49-10.

2. We can't jump Washington after they beat Colorado more decisively than we did.

     a. I know Washington's OOC is 127th in the country

the final tally will be:

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. OSU

4. Washington

5. Michigan

6. Ped State

7. Oklahoma

at least play with Bama for the 1st half, and that team is Clemson.  OSU would get destroyed by Bama.  Washington would also.  Clemson has the horses to make it a high scoring game for a while.

If they justify us over Washington they would.  If Colorado would have won, we would be in.

Losing two of our last three hurt us significantly.  Beating Iowa would have us at No. 3

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. Penn State

4. Washington

5. OSU

6. Michigan

7. Oklahoma

Reasoning above but they are the hottest team, they won the championship... I don't like it but they go.  Loss to MIchigan was bad but Michigan needs to beat Iowa.

Ohio State has a much better resume than Penn State.

They destroyed Oklahoma at Oklahoma

They "beat" Michigan

They beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin

Penn State beat Ohio State at home on a fluke ST play and beat Wisconsin after they choked away a 28-7 lead.

Penn State is the third best team in the conference, yet they deserve to be in the top 4? I don't think so.

Call me crazy my guys & gals but I'm making my case that Michigan will likely get in IF the committee would like the best 4 teams in the playoffs.

1. Bama

2. OSU

3. Michigan :)

4. Clemson

I know you find it strange that we would jump 2 spots, so let me explain my reasoning.  Clemson only beat VT by 7 points when they were favored by 11 so they actually fall to the 4 spot.  PSU was obliterated by us and the comittee knows that scenario would happen again(no where close to putting up 38pts against Michigan).  Washington simply hasn't played a strong enough schedule.  All eyes were on the game(superb ratings) and the competiveness of that game was outstanding.  The comittee likely realized that we in some sense won that game even though the record says otherwise.  Therefore they would absolutely love to see a rematch with some perceived non-bias refs...plus the viewership would be through the roof.  ALSO, the championship game from last year featured Clemson losing a highly competitve game as well.  Therefore, we are getting a playoff battle of the rematches!!  My tongue & cheek kicker is that MJ himself told the comittee that his brand needs the exposure in a "I'm MJ bitch"(D.Chappell Show)kind of way.

GO BLUE!!!

It should be Alabama, OSU, Clemson, and Washington. Conference championship games are meaningless and should be ignored. PSU has no case over anyone because they have 2 losses. The same could probably be said of Michigan. It would be cool to see Washington slip to 5th to punish the weak non conference schedule. If they do, hopefully it will lead to better scheduling amongst any contenders in the future.
