The Dorsey article in MLive should make state fans happy
There is no doubt that Tony loves to send kids to UM, but we all know where UM stands on accepting jucos. They try to avoid it, and the last one I can recall, the "instant lber fix" LC took happened to be a young man who earned 4.0 gpas at both the h.s. and juco level. The only reason he wasn't recruited at the D1 level out of hs was due to playing 8 man fb.
However, we all know MSU doesn't hesitate a bit when it comes to jucos and if Tony starts getting talent like Dorsey and Smith on a regular basis, it might just prove a natural migration to the E. Lansing campus after having becoming established in this state for a two year period given the aformentioned reasons.
In any event, I hope a kid, especially one with the same type of freakish athletic ability shared by his cousin, actually gets his priorities in order and is somehow able to reach his full potential as a player and person both, probably in reverse order though.
Thank you Jim, for being the voice of reason.
On any given day, Sparty24months-to-7years has at least a half dozen threads on Michigan/Hoke. They'll tell you they aren't obsessed and the recruting season is meaningless, yet they keep right on posting about us.
Please don't let this happen here.
sparty fans act like little brother--always thinking about big brother, always with Michigan in sparty's head. See Kirk Cousins's "motivation" from weddings and Jerel Worthy's newest tattoo.
What State fans?
The ones jumping off the bandwagon in about a month.
Who is Tony?
What's a "State"?
I have read, re-read and read outloud the post and still can't figure it out. And given that from all I've read this morning I'm about one hour away from having my net worth wiped out thanks to some ass-hat at S & P i'm no mood to work on trying to understand it anymore.
Since when do we call Dantonio "Tony?" I say we cut that shit out right now.

That makes a thousand times more sense. God, of course, how did I not know the GRCC head coach on a first name basis.
...couldn't have been made in the existing thread on this article.
Either the OP wasn't aware of the existing thread (use of the search function would have solved that) or was aware and thought that his take was so unique as to warrant another thread on the same topic (it wasn't).
Unsolicited advice to MGoUsers: Use the existing thread even if it's a few days old. People do in fact use the "Recent Posts" page and if they're interested in what you have to say on a topic, they'll read it and it might even reignite the thread. If it doesn't, c'est la vie. Don't come late to the party because the party doesn't last long.

Also, if you're going to ramble about an article, it might help to include the link somewhere in your rambling. Even if there has been a thread on it already, some people may not have read it and might be scratching their heads as to where this link is.

...point.
I have plenty of friends that started at GRCC and transferred to UM.
The explanation I've seen before is that the NCAA requires a student to be on a path to completion of a degree; the more years you spend in CC, the more qualified credits you need. Supposedly, UM is difficult about accepting credits from CCs. That makes it hard for an athlete transferring to meet the NCAA requirement and be eligible to compete.
Non-athletes don't have to worry about NCAA requirements so it doesn't affect them. Fewer credits transferring just means more credits needed at UM.

People root for something other than Michigan? What country am I in?

I hadn't seen any previous thread about this article and I didn't even know there was a Dorsey article on Aug 8th on Mlive. I went there and did a search and found what I think he was talking about. THing is, it didn't have anything to do with State. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I still don't know what he's talking about even though now I do know what article he is talking about...

State fans are always happy when the name "Demar Dorsey" is mentioned, in the same way that we crack a smile when "Terrelle Pryor" is mentioned. It would make me happy if you would STFU.

Like in the same way we crack a smile when we hear "Jackson State Prison" and/or "parole" in the same sentence with "MSU recruit"?

I haven't a clue what the hell this is about, and reading what this guy wrote 4 times hasn't helped.

I understand that it's generally UM's policy not to take JUCO players, but this could change with Hoke. I do not know if he took many at SDSU or Ball State (though I wonder how high the demand was).
Judging by the responses, it's clear the majority would rather pounce on someone they disagree with than merely opt for the higher road and simply refrain from posting an unnecessary and insulting response.
I think we have more people here who fancy themselves English majors and future world-class writers than knowledeable football fans. I have no idea how anyone with a modicum of knowledge about UM's transfer rules as it pertains to jucos could misinterpret the meaning of the post. Afterall, this is a sports site and why the fuck would anyone try to make a point about the average student transferring to AA when the discussion is football and how it might relate to UM.
And yes, it is a completely different topic than the other thread because the other thread mentioned only that he was now at GRCC, and my point was to demonstrate the difference in MSU's stance as to athletes - not regular students - which I assumed with all the non-stated, but certainly undeniable "sense of a greater intelligence" prevalent on this site that all you genius assholes could have figured it out.
I won't apologize for what should have been an easy to understand post, and I can't apologize for the overall hubris dominating this site. Obviously, we have a large contingent of Generation X and sub X types here because only they think it more important to start tosssing insults rather to offer anything of a positive nature.
To those confused, I'm happy you are. To what I assumed was the average M football fan, I really don't need to say a thing because they got it w/o a problem. I was under the misguided perception we had a more knowledgeable fan base here. For that you can toss all the insults you want because on that topic I'm definitely guilty.
...you're rejecting my advice?
In all seriousness, reread my post and tell me if you think I'm tossing insults. The fact is that your post raises an interesting possibility that MSU could recruit Dorsey from GRCC because they have lower transfer standards than U-M. The problem is that the original discussion did contain an exchange about the difficulties Dorsey would have transferring to U-M. Is it that hard to understand that your observation would have fit in very well in that discussion?
To use a board-ism, you appear to be butthurt by the criticism and in fairness to you, some of the criticism was silly and standard piling on. That said, your post: 1) was confusing, 2) lacked referring links to the article and/or the previous discussion, and 3) did not contain a take that in the opinion of this board veteran warranted a separate thread. My advice: step back, reevaluate, get over your hurt feelings and dive back in to the discussion in a postive way.
Now, to the substance of your original point. Unless you have evidence that MSU will accept remedial work as transfer credits, Dorsey will have the same problem matriculating and playing in the same season as he would at Michigan. It's highly likely that he just won't have enough qualifying credits to qualify as a sophomore or junior.
You should probably just turn around and go back to GBMW or mlive with this jibberish.
