Devin Bush appreciation thread

Submitted by Fieldy'sNuts on

Three games into his true sophomore season Devin Bush has become my favorite Michigan player to watch at any position. He's tough as nails, has great ball instincts, and he brings it on every play. We could have a future first or second rounder on our hands here. Jake Ryan was a 4th round pick and I'd argue Bush is already better than Ryan was at this point in his career.

Edit: I embedded a sweet gif of Bush sacking Air Force's QB but its no longer in the OP and I'm unable to re-embed it for some reason.

Here's the link if anyone wants to see it:

This is one of the bright spots from Saturday - watching Devin Bush basically be a guided missile out of the LB corps, a position group that I believe some people were a bit worried about in August. Actually, this particular feature of the defense has been fun to watch for three weeks now, come to think of it.

Has there ever been a Big Ten or National Champion that the defense and special teams scored more points than the offense?

If not, we have a chance to be the first!

Is doing great and is the supreme bush. With that said, I'm thankful we have multiple bushes on defense.

Devin looks like he can put himself into a higher gear than any other player on the field. QBs continue to underestimate how fast he will arrive at their door step.

What amazes me about him is how he's able to play at full speed and yet still be under control. You don't see him overrunning guys, or having to slow himself down in order to keep contain.

Watching the recruiting war we went through to get him his play thus far was pretty much my expectation. Of course, part of that was due to his teammates we took. I thought that was just to convince him to come. Turns out they aren't too bad either.

Bush is also my favorite guy to watch. Another one is Josh Metellus. Wasn't he a 2 star when we took him?

Yep. I have been rooting for Josh since I saw his hello post and it seemed like such an afterthought but prominently featured was this:

That's a picture of a guy that doesn't appear to care if he has any stars. He looks proud and confident.

People kept calling it a package deal but at the end of the year Metellus was starting in the Orange Bowl. Now he has four starts and can play multiple positions. Not bad for a lowly 2 star.

Devin is a bad young man already. Knew he would be. There is one way to stop him though. The helmet to the balls I think it was against Cincy. So he doesn't have balls of steel yet!!! He's fun to watch. Reminds me of myself playing.

He is particularly good in Don Brown's scheme which demands speed out of his position. Not sure how great he'd be at the next level in more traditional schemes because of his size. Despite that, I love that he uses his talent (his speed and his hands) to avoid being dominated by larger blockers. He's definitely the most aggressive player we have on either side of the ball.

My hope is that he will still be a high draft pick, but you know how the NFL emphasizes measurables over anything else.

he is off to a great start but remains undersized which will be a negative down the road. When he puts on 10 to 15 lbs but retains his speed then we may have an All American on our hands
