Chaundee Brown signs two-way deal with Lakers

Although we certainly could have used him last night, it's great to see Chaundee getting a shot in the NBA. Signed a two-way deal with the Lakers yesterday. The Lakers waived Sekou Doumbouya to make room (sigh, Pistons). Another Wolverine in the NBA!

Brown and Smith are missed by this years team. Veteran leadership. Howard and company will get things going despite the fact there will be potholes along the way. March is a long ways off

Ha, fair enough. So, as a recap, here are our NBA Champion Wolverines...

DJ Wilson 2021 Bucks

Juwan Howard 2012 and 2013 Heat

Glen Rice 2000 Lakers

then....?

Mike McGee 82 and 85 Lakers.

This is right on the edge of my sentient basketball memory, and I don't remember McGee at all.

Wrap it up with

Cazzie Russell 70 Knicks

Bob Harrison on the Minneapolis Lakers

Lastly, Duncan and the 2020 Bubble Heat came as close as any Wolverine to having an impactful contributing role on an NBA Championship team.

Chaundee fills a position of need for the Lakers right now - which is to say, a pair of young legs who can run and kindasorta defend NBA wings.  Our injury situation is comical right now: of the 2/3-shaped pieces on the roster, Austin Reaves (who has been a pleasant G-League surprise) is out with a hammy, Kendrick Nunn is probably out AT LEAST another month, Talen Horton-Tucker just played his first few games of this season, Trevor Ariza probably isn't coming back until 2022, and LeBron is load-managing (he could play, but they're understandably going to let him rest all he wants)

So it's a break glass in case of emergency situation - and that's not a knock on Chaundee, he can do enough things okay-to-well that the team needs and Lebron has made worse players look better.  I'm hoping he punches over his weight class and proves his way onto the rotation and not just because every other '3' is injured.
