BYU Stud RB Withdrawls

BYU stud RB Jamaal Williams Withdrawls from school and will redshirt. By no means was this game ever a gimme and their QB is seasoned and big, but Williams was very good and a big part of the Cougar attack. It's on the Twitters

If he was going on a mission it wouldn't be listed as a withdrawal for "personal reasons."  Not sure if he is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in any event, but if he was it would have been known a long time ago that he would be missing the season to go on a mission.

This is different than serving a mission. Missions are two years long, and are usually taken between high school and the start of college, or after the athlete's freshman year. Jamal is also not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so he wouldn't be going on a mission.

Jamal is one of the best running backs that we have ever had, and is the perfect change of pace to Taysom Hill. He is in the same major as my wife and is such a good guy. I hate to miss seeing him play this year.

I used to work with someone who called a paper shredder a "strudder." She had worked in an office for about 20 years and she seriously had no idea it was pronounced "shredder."

Earlier this week, the USA Today had an interesting piece on the BYU QB Taysom Hill:

This guy sounds like the type of QB who has given Michigan defenses fits in the past - very good passer who can also run well.  He apparently has quite an aptitude for business and worked at a venture capital firm over the summer.  He also has a Harbaugh connection too.  JH apparently recruited him at some point while coach at Stanford.

I did a preview of BYU here.  He will give UM all sorts of fits.

As for Williams he is solid but the best RB on the field that day most likely will be Hill.   And their OL is top 20ish in the nation so generally you can plug in any # of RBs in that system - we had that for a few decades here.

Yes Harbaugh recruited Hill before he left... he never played at Stanford and with the mission etc he is still around.
