Brandon Graham Resigns with the Eagles

Submitted by Niels on March 1st, 2019 at 10:10 AM

It's reported as a 3 year deal for approx. 13 million per. No word on guaranteed money yet.

As a UM grad and Eagles fan I couldn't be happier for him and the team. He got screwed over during the depths of the Richrod years and then was after being drafted was injured while dealing with 4-5 DC's in the same number of years. He never complained, worked his *** off and ended up making the biggest play in Eagles history (and arguably the history of the city). Congrats to him and his family.

Ugh, sorry about that. I obviously meant "Re-signs". Sorry for any confusion.

Related: I'm going to have my first grader start posting on Mgoblog. I feel that his education in composition and grammar would be greatly enhanced by adding a "trial by fire" component :)

Please have your resignation post on the board by morning... unacceptable.

I put Grammarly on my daughter's computer BTW and truly ef'd with her creative process in retrospect.

Parenting is another word for regret perhaps... but I am resigned to it.

The man who prevented Tom Brady's 7th Super Bowl victory.

There was no doubt that Brady was going to score on that drive.

OP: I'm sometimes open to some RichRod bashing, but this isn't one of those instances.

To put it bluntly, WTF do you mean by "screwed over during the depths of the RichRod years?!"

He was the star of a poorly designed defense and wound up going in the first round of the draft. The "Barwis Method" wasn't for everyone, but it seemed to work for Brandon (who was on the Lawrence Marshall track during the Lloyd / Gittelson phase of his career).

Fair point.

To be more specific, I feel that due to the team's bad performance and (to a lesser extent) less that outstanding defensive coordinators, BG didn't get to showcase his talents as much as he could have, thus hurting his draft stock and dropping him out of the top 10. I suppose "screwed" might be too strong a word but I do think the program's chaos during those years did him no favors.

Great player and even better person!  Ran into him several years ago at Metro Airport and I dropped a subtle Go Blue comment.  He went on to talk to me about Michigan football for 5 minutes. I could see how much he loved the program just the way he spoke. Probably my all time favorite Michigan player as a result.

Ran into him after the spring game his senior year.  He was with his entire family.  I just said Hey Brandon, Go Blue because I didn't want to bother him.   He stopped and put his arms around me and my buddy so that we could take pictures without even asking him.   Seemed like one of the most personable players I have ever met.   Really like meeting fans.

As an Eagles fan, I'm very happy that BG re-signed. He's the only Michigan alum on the team, and helps counter-balance the OSU taint that Malcolm Jenkins brings to the team (I love Malcolm, too....but Go Blue!).

I'm resigned to the fact that those same nuns who terrorized my very soul in grade school were nuntheless successful in teaching me proper grammar.

This made me google the etymology of "resign," and apparently it's formed by the same thought as "recall" as in "recall the ambassador" or "retract," where the "re" prefix means to undo. Obviously, in re-sign the prefix means to "re-do," and gives the almost opposite meaning. Something that is also seen in the example above, "recall," which instead of "undoing" something can mean to remember or can mean to call again with regards to a witness in a court room.

I'm going to have to ask the History of English Podcaster how that prefix got so silly.

Another 3 years with the same team-just a testament to his longevity, durability, and talent. Really happy for him and his family.

He deserves all of it and glad that he is representing us well in the NFL.
