Anyone know if UM pushed to recruit the best athlete in Tom Brady's family?
I see his niece just won freshman softball player of the year....would hope UM fought to get her signature.

Don't know, but but Carol Hutchins might be our best coach of all time, in any sport, so I'm going to defer to her judgment.
Not to mention UCLA is a woman's softball powerhouse program
Well she didn’t “just” win freshman of the year. It was almost a whole year ago that she was awarded that distinction. But despite Tom’s affiliation with UofM, I don’t see how we would have a leg up in recruiting her. She’s a west coast girl who went to UCLA which is a powerhouse softball program in their own right.
Her uncle went to UofM. It’s not like her parents did. So maybe Michigan pushed to recruit her, but a west coast athlete decided to play for a west coast powerhouse. Not much to see there.
On top of all that, maybe she looked at Uncle Tom's legacy at UM and said 'no thanks, don't want to try living up to that...'?
I was simply asking if anyone heard about a recruiting battle for her......especially as the UCLA coach, then a Bruin, beat out her All-American mother's Fresno State team twice in the national championships.....seems like there might have been a small opening for Hutchinson and her recruiting charm. In any case, her mother is now a nurse in Bakersfield so I imagine staying near home might have won out.
I assumed we were talking about University of Michigan runner Tom Brady. Who is this other guy?
I didn't realize that Tom's sister, Maya's mother, had been an All-American pitcher. There are some good genes in that family!
Apparently, former MLB player, Kevin Youkilis, is another uncle and her father was no slouch, having earned a football scholarship to Duke.
If Carol Hutchins wants her, then that should be enough for anyone. She's more than earned the benefit of the doubt on who she brings into the program.
She also has a stronger arm than Tom. That's a frozen laser beam of throw.

bad posts are bad and you should feel bad
I'm tired of losing to UCLA. Eff them.
wait, i thought it was 'bama?
Them too.
Don't worry, our women's gymnastics team crushed the Bruins in their regional to advance to the national championships.
I heard her say back in high school that UCLA was her dream school and that more family could watch her there. Sounds like it would be hard to pry her away from her home state favorite school.
