Agree on Drake. But Isaac only had 40 carries in complete mop up situations. Having watched most of his games, he only had a handful of carries during meaningful parts of games. If I recall, he was only featured once his freshman year. I think and hope he breaks out, but I wouldn't consider his stats as any sort of clear indication of future success.

When Drake started getting carries it was looking like our O-line was not as bad as the talk.  Drake is fast, he hits the hole hard,  he is hard to bring down and can read a block.

Green and Smith have struggled for 2 years.  We have seen a flash or two, but that is not enough.  They step up this year or they will get passed by.  By who?  I have no idea, but I don't think JH will be giving carries for long to guys that don't read a block or if they go down easy.

injuries aside I just can't see Smith getting more than 7-8 carries a game. His poor vision is the biggest reason.

Smith has been our clear-cut best back on the roster since he stepped on campus. His vision is fine and he hits holes with authority. If Isaac can stay healthy I can see him becoming a majority-snaps guy...but right now it's Smith's job to lose. Smith can be a 1000 yard rusher under Harbaugh.

This might be crazy, as I've only gleaned information from his Hudl tape, but does anyone else think Upshur is a better DE than TE? Again, this is only from watching his highlight film, but I was much more impressed with Upshur on defense than offense. He seems like a good, willing blocker, but I wasn't impressed with his ability after the catch. Reminded me a lot of Martell Webb. He seemed much more explosive and impactful on defense.

And you won't see anything from them this year monkey, because well.. There just not that good. It seems michigans top rated players the last few years outside of a few guys ( peppers, butt, bolden ) have simply been over hyped and aren't who we all wanted them to be. It's still confusing how some people on this board cling to false hopes about some of our guys. Devin Gardner being the worst example of the delusional hopes star rankings can bring.

247 has him at 6'2", 233 lbs. On the small side for a D1 tight end, no? Obviously the kid is a porspect, but is it really at TE?

He's an "F" in Jims system which is an H-Back. Hate to use the comparison due to what he is now famous for, but the honest-to-God best comparison is Aaron Hernandez. A great blocker that can also run and catch. He will probably come in motion nearly every snap he is on the field for and the goal will be for him to be such a good blocker that when we motion him in to a route, he just slips free and gets lost. Hernandez was 6'1 245 and had a real good NFL career until we discovered he was a murderous psychopath. I imagine Upshur will end up at 6'2.5 or 6'3 and about 240 good size to pin a DE/OLB or truck someone on the goal line
