"The number one rule in basketball...'stop the ball.'" The guy just pulls shit out of his ass.
February 16th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
...a YMCA shot?? wtf
February 16th, 2011 at 8:54 PM ^
Our defense looks lost out there
February 16th, 2011 at 8:57 PM ^
We got away from our game there, and I hope that didn't show them how to beat us........
Hopefully we go back to the slow-paced half-court game.
February 16th, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
Did the guy covering the game for ESPN.com fall asleep or something? I was sitting there staring at the gamecast thinknig some kid broke their neck for how long it's been 5-4 Illinois with 18:12 left in the half.
February 16th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
Just a thought for defense.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
Curious... I feel like JB is a coach that will let his team work through things sometimes instead of calling a timeout one or two possessions too soon. The score was 13-7 and Illinois went on a 12-2 run over 4 or so minutes. With such a young team, I feel like sometimes the TO's are a possession or two late. What does everyone think? Not a big deal, and will definitely benefit in years to come having JB's current philosophy, yet I can't help but wonder if it might help short term for JB to have a quicker trigger on the TO's.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:02 PM ^
I guess he is trying to allow them to fix things themselves, and also trying to save some timeouts for the second half
February 16th, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
dribble into trouble and lull them to sleep
February 16th, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
They just seem uncomfortable.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
Stu knock those down...
February 16th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
Why don't you miss a few more 3's. If aren't feeling it then stop shooting it...
February 16th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
He needs to keep shooting. If he doesn't find his shot Michigan won't win anyway. He's getting good looks and shooting when he does.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
The shorter 3-point line...
February 16th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Did they raise it since Saturday?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
There should be an investigation.

(But really, more in general, that it figures when we become a 3 point shooting team the easy line disappears).
February 16th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
What's cooler than being cool?
Come on guys. Lets get up and play.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Keep the camera on the ball!
February 16th, 2011 at 9:07 PM ^
this rim is angry with us....were we a bit too rough to it in the shootaround?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
of the Wisconsin game. We are hopelessly undersized in the contest and the same damn plays haunt us.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
this is starting to to look like the Dream Team against Angola.
OK. Maybe not that bad.
Just not very good.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Personally, I want to hear more "Butterfly" talk from Doyle. Why? Because it'd mean we're playing well.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
On defense mostly, but even on offense. Defense has just been lazy getting to their spot/position, both on and off the ball. Offense people aren't setting their feet. The footwork on offense has been terrible, giving way to awkward looking shots. They're just playing lazy in a game they can't afford to play lazy during
February 16th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Argh.......I was hoping we didn't have an extended cold streak. The length of Illinois is really giving us fits.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
1. Matta 2. Bo Ryan 3. Tim Doyle
February 16th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
SMOTRYCZ is spelled L-I-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y
February 16th, 2011 at 9:14 PM ^
And other needless flailing of limbs, kind of like how they can card people for flopping in soccer, but you know, instead of like soccer actually do it. Tizdale is annoying me greatly, almost as much as Doyle and Michigan not making shots.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Manny Morris?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
Looking forward to a better second half effort.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
I can't wait until Smotrycz has another year of experience, and we have another guy his size on the team.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
did I miss something or were you referring to Smotz size?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
I'm assuming that we'll add another 6'8''+ guy in the 2012 class.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:29 PM ^
1 1/2 - 2 years experience...?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
Yea, and hopefully McLimans and Horford can become servicable in the meantime.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
I'm not so sure about McLimans. But Morgan continues to improve, and he can be a Big Ten space eater and relegate the rest to bench minutes (assuming Evan is a productive Beilein style 4 by then).
February 16th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
"ROLE".
February 16th, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
Mclimans scares me whenever he is in the game.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:29 PM ^
seen much in the past month or so that makes me feel confident Smotrycz will develop into the player we all hoping for. Maybe he'll learn what to do once he beats his man with a pump fake and maybe he'll pick up some quickness on D, but I wouldn't bet on it, especially the latter.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
but he was exactly on point with his analysis in the first half
February 16th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
he said "for Michigan it was a tale of two halves"?
February 16th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
He was referring to first ten minutes and second ten minutes.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
Just goofin'...
February 16th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
this team should consider lucky to be down only 10. We got killed on all levels that half. Smotrycz is killing us. that one possession where he beats his man, but passes it, gets the ball back, and misses a three was sickening.
February 17th, 2011 at 9:00 AM ^
Sad foreshadow of how the game was going to end. Drive to the hoop when you beat your man.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Before the game I was afraid we were going to be too small to win this game...
I think I may have been right :(
February 16th, 2011 at 10:00 PM ^
with 9:00 to go.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
For defensive purposes I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Blake McLimans get some minuets. Listen I know that he is god awful on offense but if he and Morgan were in at the same time we could still get our interior offense with Morgan and still have our kickout shooters available. But it's obvious we need an answer for there height and lob it in over our head offense, and quite honestly Blake is our best answer because he actually is a good shot blocker and defender.
February 16th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
As more of a waltz guy, myself.

(Sorry...I don't really care about typos...unless it turns it into a much funnier image).
February 16th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
We missed a lot of open shots in the first, mostly Douglass, but if we knock a couple of those down we are right in this. We have to shoot well against bigger teams, and we didn't, hence the ten point deficit. We have shown on more than one occasion that we can get hot and shoot the lights out for a half. Hopefully we get hot. Go blue!
