RR-Era Slogans/Signs
Just a point of discussion I was wondering about...
What does everybody think Hoke will/should do with the new slogans and signs that were put up during the Rich Rodriguez era? Will "Hard Edge" stay? What about "Hold the Rope?" I think Barwis had another one put up, too, but I can't remember or find a reference to it. Will Hoke keep them, or go his own way?
Thoughts?

No way we can toss out chocolate milk!!!!!
January 19th, 2011 at 1:00 PM ^
Let's just worry about the main thing, okay?
January 19th, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
It's going to be a long offseason if all we're worrying about is next year's win total.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
Bro, you don't seem willing to let the main thing be the main thing.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
You're right. My bad.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
Is that the new slogan? "WORRY ABOUT THE MAIN THING!"
January 19th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^

/Probably too late, but I am sorry the Other Chris got schwacked in that silly thread
Srsly, though. Out with the new and in with the old.

I see what you did there...
January 19th, 2011 at 1:01 PM ^
Does anyone remember the one that was put up at the beginning of the RR era that had the misspelling? I remember it happening, but I can't remember what it was.
As for the actual question, I'd like to see them stay. It's part of the history now, for better or wose.

Was in the sign that supposedly read:
THROUGH THESE DOORS WALK THE BEST-CONDITIONED, MOST DISCIPLINED AND HARDEST WORKING FOOTBALL TEAM IN AMERICA.
That sign is supposedly captured photographically here:
http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2011/01/friday-skull-session-0
And the grammatical error is that the verb and subject don't match. A "team" "walks," and individual football players "walk."
But if somebody did in fact mess that up, it was corrected long ago. And I don't think Rich Rodriguez was going to Kinko's to supervise sign production in any event, before or after this grammatically-correct sign was posted:

You can't take down HARD EDGE, because then that is saying that you don't want your players to have a HARD EDGE, man.
January 19th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
I'm going to stick with my previous line and say that they should replace "HARD EDGE" with "WOLVERINES" or, alternately, baseball-script "Michigan."
January 19th, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
HARD EDGE isn't a sign, it is a way of life.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
I thought that was straight edge...
January 19th, 2011 at 1:09 PM ^
Never heard of it. You sure you don't mean Kass edge?
January 19th, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
What is this straight edge u talk about?
January 19th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
Your comment was both Hard and Edgy.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:10 PM ^
I posbang anything Hard Edge...can't ever get enough of it. +1 my friends, +1.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
HARD EDGE HARD EDGE HARD EDGE!.....can I get my points now?
January 19th, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^
Anyone here who's not HARD EDGE better start getting HARD fast!
January 19th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
I'm waiting for all the previous Hard Edge Haters to come in here and face palm.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
was is that it wasn't a way of life, it was just a sign that was completely incompatible with the team, the team did not have a hard edge, its consistency was more pudding like. I am hoping for a hard edge at some point in the future, maybe they can leave it up as more like a mission statement.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
Do you want to get negged today?
January 19th, 2011 at 1:08 PM ^
I'd imagine that the "Hold The Rope" sign will be taken down in the locker room and "Those Who Stay Will Be..." will replace it.
Just my guess
January 19th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
Did the "Those Who Stay....." sign ever come down? I'd be really surprised if it was ever moved but I'm sure that anything is possible.....maybe I just missed the memo.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:09 PM ^
I think all the new coaches are ALL IN for Michigan!
January 19th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
I think quiting a NFL DC job to go work the same position at the college level says he is "all in"
January 19th, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
I was more or less just bringing up the ALL IN slogan.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
What do we refer to the RR era in general as? Proabition? The dark years? The Rich years? That last one is kind of an oxymoron.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
The Debacle? Anything that doesn't reference Josh Groban.

I wouldn't mind seeing them stay, but it seems like the new staff would replace them with similarly motivating slogans (Harder Edge?). Thankfully, just because something is fixed on a wall or stadium edge, doesn't mean it can't be removed (see: Stadium Halo).
I imagine other phrases like "all in" will just die a quiet death.
January 19th, 2011 at 1:20 PM ^
He should still keep In Rod We Trust. That one is too good to give up
