First of all, 9-3 as our norm would be the bright side of this fiasco at this point.
Secondly, we were competitive with OSU, and beat them twice in the early 2000s. I would LOVE to return to the early 2000s at this point.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
OHIO state pwned our ass espeically LLLLLLLLoyd's carr's. No thanks. This is what yoU RR haters deserve. Congrats. I am completely done with supporting this AD. DB is completely incompetent in hiring a coach. He sure can put together a hockey game, but he is worst than Sailboat willy in hiring a coach.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
Ha ha! You were banging the FIRE RICH ROD!!1!! drum pretty loud for a long time. How do you feel about that decision?
January 11th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
NO I WAS NOT! I was fully supporting Rich and I believe firing him will haunt us for years to come. Welcome to ND michigan. We will mediocre for years to come, thanks to you people running a good coach out of town.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
Uh, our average record is 5-7 over the last 3 years. And I'm pretty sure the last time we beat OSU was... early 2000s. I don't want Hoke either but bad example.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:23 PM ^
Do you guys think it's too late to tell Rich Rod we were just playing a joke on him and he is actually still the coach. I hope that's what's going on.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:25 PM ^
So last night I was listening to the ESPN audio feed of the game over the internet, fell asleep sometime early in the 4th quarter, and dreamt that Miles and his wife were staying with me, we had watched the game and they were sleeping on the futon in my office. When I woke up post-game, with the ESPN Radio feed still running, I was pretty startled. It had all seemed so real.
I think I may have a problem.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
Yeah, now I really have a problem.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
NOT CONFIRMED. This is the same report as before, but with the added twist of the AD's former statements about wanting Les Miles to stay.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:25 PM ^
say LSU is finalizing the press release announcing Miles is staying.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
Rosendick just tweeted that a freep source just confimed Miles is staying at LSU. FCUK!
Can we just sign Hoke at this point? At least he isn't using us to get more $$ like Les and the beloved Harbaugh.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
If this thing about Les is true, then Martin/Carr is our own personal version of Obama/Biden.
In case you don't get that - it means, the beginning of the end. We should've hired Les back in 2007. What a fuckup.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
really, no politics here. Tensions are high enough.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
The beginning of the end of the no politics on mgoblog rule? Don't do that.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
Desperate times....
January 11th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
Les Miles was going to jump and come to Michigan before he coached LSU in the BCS championship game. Not likely....
January 11th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
Prob a good idea to keep politics out of this. It's ugly and messy enough on its own.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Post but I'm really beginning to think DB didn't offer.
<br>
January 11th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
Is there any valid reason for that? If this is the case, was the plan to get Hoke all along? And if so, why not just hire him in either November or, January.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
has been intimating this.
It's not clear that Balas has any idea what he's talking about though, so who knows.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
If DB wants to "bring the Michigan family together" he'll need to answer some questions once Hoke (or whoever ends up as the hire) is announced. Evasive answers and platitudes won't cut it this time. Or, maybe he's uniting the family by making everyone so pissed at him that no one cares who the hire is?
January 11th, 2011 at 12:36 PM ^
I guess Les could have let it out that he'd take UM's offer as a bargaining chip to restructure his contract with LSU. It just seems like we've already done this to no good end. I don't know. Nothing makes sense about this.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
RandyRosetta LSU AD Joe Alleva just texted me that Les Miles will remain the Tigers' coach. #lsu
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
LSU themselves have confirmed that Miles is staying.
Hokemania is going to run wild on you. Say your prayers and eat your vitamins and stuff.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:28 PM ^
Chengelis just tweeted that he's staying too.. sourcing Alleva....
January 11th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
I can recruit just like RR, Miles, Harbaugh, Carr and Bo..."
"I am glad to see the tears of joy and relief running down your face!"
January 11th, 2011 at 12:32 PM ^
I want Hoke.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
Beginning to resign myself to an inevitability that didn't seem so bad a few days ago. But as reality sets in it is killing my optimism.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
boom goes the dynamite.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
Doom...
January 11th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
Who is the next coach we blindly go at?
January 11th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
No, wait, don't answer that. FML.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:32 PM ^
My source says Les Miles will announce that Kirk Herbstreit will become the new UM coach.

So if we have a plane going to Scottsdale, that is Hoke, right? I mean, Gruden or Malzahn, 1% each perhaps.. but it's Hoke.. right?
January 11th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
Isn't it? Michigan alumni demand a "Michigan Man" for HC, but there's not one "Michigan Man" in the land that wants to coach at Michigan.
There is of course Hoke. But seriously?
If Miles is really staying, man, what a freaking embarrassment!
Rich Rodriguez, Calvin Magee and even Greg Robinson are probably eating breakfast at a Denny's in Ann Arbor and laughing their fucking asses off, yelling at each other and disturbing other patrons: "Hey, aren't you a "MICHIGAN MAN!"??? No! They told me I wasn't! Bwahahahahaha!"

and goes up to Jamie H., the hottest girl in school, with the intention of asking her to the prom. Before he can even get the first words out of his mouth, she cracks her gum, says, "Beat it, loser!!" and slips her arm around with the rich college guy with the gold and maroon sports car. Undaunted, DB then walks up to Leslie M., the allegedly loose and boy-crazy 19-yr old senior (she had to repeat a grade) to ask her to the prom. She listens thoughtfully to Dave's invitation, hems and haws, chews on a toothpick, and then says she has to organize her sock drawer that night, and besides she already has a boyfriend. Without missing a beat, Dave consults his checklist, crosses off the first two names, and strides over to the table where the dumpy, slightly overweight and very rumpled Brandy H. is seated with her freshmen 4H club friends. Dave starts to ask her if she'd like to go to the prom, but before he can finish Brandy squeals "YES!!" at the top of her lungs, jumps out of her seat, and runs to Brandon, enveloping him in a massive bear log while desperately trying to stick her tongue down his throat in front of the snickering cafeteria crowd.

You've already embarrased yourself in front of the whole school, you might as well keep going.
At least take a shot at the hot new chick, Gloria patterson, or even swing for the fences at that college chick that smiled at you once, Julie Gruden.
If it doesn't work out (and believe me, it won't), you don't have to just settle for Brandy H. She's too needy for you.
You may have to start thinking outside the box and look at a freshmen like K.C. Keeler who seems to have potential and hope she "develops" nicely during her time with you.

Fuck Hoke. Hoke would never be a candidate if he wasn't a head coach here. Dave Brandon is worst than Bill Martin.

At this point I think it's fairly obvious that the choice is Hoke. I know there are other names still on the board: Gruden, Malzahn, Patterson, but seriously, ask yourself, if we can't get a guy that played here, coached here, and was reported to take the job if offered, no questions, how can we expect that any of those guys can or will want to come coach at UM? It's got to be Hoke at this point.
January 11th, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
I have lost all faith in DB. Pathetic.
