For Stu, he was shooting 42% from 3 this year though.

long 3-pointer that looked like it should be a 4-pointer. And when it was needed. If anyone said after the first half of the first half that they were going into OT... They made it exciting.

that was novak.

Oh. You're right.

Despite the poor shooting Michigan played pretty well today. Stu had a pretty off game unfortunately.

Taking the #3 team in the country to OT is huge. Tough loss, but one that they'll grow from.

...by the team today. Kansas just too much in OT.

my hopes are dashed. O well let's beat the buckeyes on wednesday and I'll forget this ever happened.

Too bad we didn't hit more shots, but the team competed.

Great effort by the team. Gotta make more shots from 3. Simple as that. Defense has been very good over the course of the season.

Way to go boys, Michigan almost completed the comeback!
January 9th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
totally different team with him out. what a big surprise he has been. holding his own or even outplaying 4* and 5* big men. and he's only a freshman!!
would have been a huge win. great effort though.

Need a bit more size. Hopefully time in the weight room will help us to be able to hang with these kinds of teams and at least fight them inside. I'm encouraged again as far as long term.

So proud of this team. Did not expect to be this stressed by sports today.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
Good effort but I really think we have to come away with one of these games at some point...

<br>Moral victories are nice but we have to get a signature win at some point.

They will come.
For a team without one starting senior to do that to Kansas is impressive. What I saw today is a team with a lot of heart and a bright future.
Go Blue!

There are zero seniors on this team, period. Next season is going to be a good one.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
but you never know. We said the same thing going into last year.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
we may always see more defections. Seen plenty of that last few years.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:02 PM ^
Lose to Syracuse and Kansas by combined 10 and took KU to OT. I think by next year we could win these, but really, who knows where they'll be in a year
January 9th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
Two years ago we were very good with everyone coming back and "next year" we were going to be dominant. And then last year happened. So I'm hesitant to say that, but in theory you are right. This program is on the rise.

Manny was the catalyst and he didn't seem to really fit in the system. CJ Lee, Gibby, D Merritt all had a big presence as leaders of the team (most probably didn't think so, but it became apparent once they were gone). I think this team is a lot different than last/two years ago.

As I and many have said, this team fights like heck. They never quit. The keep coming at you again and again. This team has so much future upside it's incredible.
Come on Blue, beat OSU!
January 9th, 2011 at 7:06 PM ^
That was good effort to put it into OT, our team plays hard and with such a young team that is all you can ask for.

You guys may be happy about a close game with Kansas, and I can see why. But at the same time overtime at home up by 3 with the season on the line. Losing those type of games is what makes us michigan (both football and basketball). We only win games we are favored to win and never sieze the moment (Again both football and basketball). I don't question the effort. I also give a lot of props to Beilin. Most coaches wouldn't have been able to keep that game within 20 points. But in the end, it's just another loss in a game we had a great shot to win. Sorry about the doom and gloom, but it's reality.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:24 PM ^
Any time this team can take the #3 and undefeated team to OT, I'll take it.
You don't become a powerhouse overnight, and this season is showing some improvement over last year even with the loss of Sims and Harris. I like the direction we're going, and recruiting/development will only help us from here.
I'm not happy we lost, but I'm thrilled with the fact that we were even in it.
January 9th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
I actually expected us to be better without Harris and Sims. Two very talented guys but didn't fit the system. The team last year was the most incoherent team I had ever seen.
If this was an isolated incident I would be ok with it. But countinuly losing close games even to the best is a concern. Poor 2nd half play has cost us in nearly every close game this season (tonight being the exception).

like two new assistant coaches, and our two juniors aren't going to leave early for the NBA, so I don't think the future has to be judged by the past.
