Friday Night Football Open Thread
Then at 8 EST is the Cotton Bowl between LSU And Texas A&M.
Post thoughts here as you try to forget that we don't have a coach 3 weeks from signing day. Oops, shouldn't have reminded everyone...

Les Miles?
Well, that depends. How do you feel about shady recruiting and eating grass?
Michigan is terrible and the grass at Michigan Stadium is artificial turf.
The question is rhetorical.
As long as he wins, I'm good.
Okey-dokey. Prepare for clock DOOM.
DOOM?
DOOM.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
And then we'll be front runners for Jadeveon Clowney and RR will be hired at Stanford and Andrew Luck will be hired as Michgan's new offensive coordinator.

Leslie Edwin "Les" Miles (born November 10, 1953 in Elyria, Ohio) is an American college football coach and the current head coach of the University of Michigan football team.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Miles

Who knew? They need their own network now "WikiChannel", and then this could run in the crawl....

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (AP) - Alabama junior running back Mark Ingram, junior receiver Julio Jones and junior defensive lineman Marcell Dareus announced Friday that they would enter the 2011 NFL Draft,
January 7th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
Les Miles can do, its recruit. This would be huge in my opinion.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
is a player to watch. He's likely to be drafted in 2nd/3rd round. Not near the prospect that Joe Flacco is coming out of college, but still a good prospect.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:48 PM ^
But how do his eyebrows compare? Does he outnumber Flacco in that regard?
January 7th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I'm sure that Craig Roh's eyebrows outnumbers both QBs easily.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
I thought Roh just had one, but it was GLORIOUS.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:41 PM ^
That was a really fast 1st quarter. From my angle Delaware dominated it, but is only up 6-0.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:47 PM ^
I'd take Keeler
January 7th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
be opposed to hearing KC Keeler named as new HC ....who heard of Bo or Tressel before they were hired? And it seems he's able to coach 'em up!!
Go Blue Hens!!
January 7th, 2011 at 7:51 PM ^
Delaware up 9-0 after a long drive that settled for a 29 yrd FG. Got a break in there with a pick called back for offsides.
Their offense is intriguing b/c it looks compatible with the players we have and their QB has the abillity to get up under center. They've had a few power plays mixed in. I like the versatility. I could see this working.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
I might have to be in class in Pittsburgh on Monday, but I just cleared my schedule until then! It's 1,250 miles to Frisco Texas, I have a full tank of gas, half a bottle of chloroform, it's dark and I'm wearing sunglasses. You're coming to Ann Arbor, Keeler. I hope you'll be very happy in your new home.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:55 PM ^
Not surprised Harbaugh chose to go to the pros - this was going to be his best chance to get a good deal. I'm not sure he'll succeed at SF unless he gets a good QB there, but they'll probably make the playoffs and that is enough.
I still think Miles is the odds-on choice with Hoke a backup. I'm not crazy about either of them (I would prefer Patterson or Mullen), but I guess it would help with recruiting in the short term.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
I will transfer to LSU if Miles is our next coach.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
in Baton Rouge. It won't be that bad for you.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
it will be bad for your career after school.
January 7th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
They destroyed UMASS last year, FWIW.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
Does anyone notice that the Championship is being played between two teams not ranked 1st or 2nd?
January 7th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
pregame goes before the MIles to Michigan line is uttered?
I've got 3 minutes
January 7th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Delaware is really dominating this game but settling for FGs (yes, those exist). Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite them.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Delaware drive stalls on the 20, FG is good, 5 minutes to halftime.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
I doubt that Miles will be our next coach, but I'm losing track of who it would be a giant fuck you to if we did hire him. Lloyd? Martin? Bo? Harbaugh?
Help me out.

The fans?

Michigan Men
January 7th, 2011 at 8:08 PM ^
Is loving him some Blue Hen football. Wow, this guys actually knows what he is talking about somewhat. I didn't see that coming.
EDIT: He actually played at Delaware for a year. Wow, did not know that. Kind of a Gerald Ford wannabee.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Joe would look GREAT in a winged helmet.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
Except Biden actually got elected to be Vice President.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
Just not President.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
Ford was appointed to be VP replacing Spiro Agnew. Not elected VP nor president.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
Joe Biden is hanging out with the announcers for the Delaware game. I knew he's an alum but definitely a pleasant surprise.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:06 PM ^
who played in the last confederate bowl? was it lsu?
January 7th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
Feel like the cotton bowl pre-game is more NASCAR than college football. The fact that it's on fox isnt helping
January 7th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
FOX should be banned from broadcasting college games. We blast ESPN for a lot of stuff, but one thing they have right is a good set of announcers that are great for the college game. Listening to Kenny Albert butcher his way through a college game? No thanks. Mute button, you are my savior.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
ESPN does capture the college atmoshphere. They don't treat it like it's a way to kill time until their real job.
January 7th, 2011 at 8:41 PM ^
Michigan and ytMSU still tied at 0 in the 2nd.
Edit: ytMSU just scored the first goal.
Edit #2: M scores but goes up to the booth for review. And it's overturned.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:00 PM ^
PAT is partially blocked but still good. Delaware is rolling.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:01 PM ^
... what's with the Hitler Youth in the stands?
Where's Neidermeyer?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
Any rentals in Tuscany?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Is really looking good right now. Well prepared, on top of their assignments and tackling well. I'm really impressed with this D.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
Any one else noticing how the LSU O would work good with Denard and the O?
Our best shot at a winning record next year and avoiding a major player defection is Les Miles.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
I worry about us running all that I formation, it was a disaster this year.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:42 PM ^
We probably didn't practice it that much.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
I like the multiple formations as well
Warming up to the idea. Though Schad says he's maybe less interested now than he was 3 years ago
I'm open to many names in the search and content to let it play out. Except Hoke
January 8th, 2011 at 3:34 PM ^
I think Les opened up in that game running the QB a lot to a) win of course, and b) show off how Denard/Tate/Devin could be used.
Go Les Miles!
caveats about grass, signing, etc.
