CC: Harbaugh has become the new hot tech stock
It is unreal how much this guy has blown up in a week. He has not been just rated a "buy", but an "oh my god I have to have it regardless of the price and give me big lots. According to reports, basically every NFL franchise with an opening only wants Harbaugh and only Harbaugh as a coach. Every NFL analyst now seems to have Harbaugh-quota dedicated to covering his every move in addition to the national sports writers.
I now just waiting for reports that Brandon will need to enter the Thunderdome to fight with multiple NFL GMs to the death for the privilege of signing the guy. I really like the Jim, I think he is a great coach, I only hope this frenzy has not created a bubble of expectations that simply cannot be achieved regardless of how talented he is.
With that being said, I have bought in as well and will be watching this damn Orange Bowl much more closely than I would have otherwise.

If money is the problem, I'll give Dave Brandon all the money in my piggy-bank to help pay for Harbaugh's contract.

I hope that piggy bank is pretty large, because gold-plated bathroom plumbing is pretty expensive.

Wherever he ends up, he is (go!)blue-chip all the way, and will always make me proud to support Michigan.

If we buy Harbaugh, there's a decent chance we'll be "buying high," at least as far as reputation is concerned.
That doesn't mean he couldn't get it done here. In fact, I like his chances. But, I think that "in rep" he's currently closer to his ceiling than his floor.

ThWard: The bottom line is you've been spending a lot of time with Stanford, Jim. You're a Michigan Man!.
Jim Harbaugh: That's a given.
ThWard: We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much! I miss being with you. I miss being *near* you. I miss your laugh!
[laugh's playfully and pulls on Jim's sleeve]
ThWard: I miss your scent.
[Composes himself, becomes serious]
ThWard: I miss your musk... When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together!

Reads like porno fan fiction. Way to take one for the team ThWard.

If we do land him, all this frenzy will be great for next year's recruiting class. Harbaugh can tell recruits: "I could have coached in the NFL. There's no place I'd rather be than at Michigan."

Jim has been listening to this song a lot lately (hopefully)

I just called Jim Harbaugh and talked to him about the Michigan job. Here's what he said:
Me: "Hi Jim, will you become the next head coach at the University of Michigan?"
Jim: "Who is this? How did you get this number?"
Take it for what its worth!

He's COMING BACK TO MICHIGAN!

Jim blew up long before a week ago and was very likely going to move on after this year regardless. He probably had his course set for the NFL, but it just so happens that the UM job will be available which complicates matters for him. When you go 11-1 and develop possibly the best QB in the country, you're not staying at Stanford.

JH and AL both go to the Carolina Panthers. Oh my.
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:38 PM ^
Michigan first, but if not M, my Panthers need the help..... desperately.

Dan Akroyd = RR
Eddie Murphy = JH
I think it would be interesting if someone photoshopped this. But maybe not.

Harbaugh fever is in the air.
Get vaccinated today.
I honestly think relying on one man and counting on him as signed and delivered is a bad bad thing. I know Harbaugh is a 'Michigan Man' - and if he doesn't pan out and we get another HC, we don't want to be in the same situation as with RR - where he received half- assed support from the fan base because 90% of them were convinced that Les Miles was the man and he declined the homecoming.
Lets be a little more open to other coaches (including retaining RR for another year)
Also - no Brady Hoke please. If we can't get a proven commodity - we might as well keep RR.

Charlie Sheen as Jim Harbaugh
Michael Douglas as Dave Brandon
Ben Stiller as Rich Rodriguez
Steve Martin as Greg Robinson
James Franco as Andrew Luck
and...
Lil Wayne as Denard Robinson

Harbaugh is the hottest name in football right now... and he's wanted our job his entire life. This is NOT a bad thing.

Brings back memories of Eric "The Man-Genius" Mangini. He was so hot Cleveland still wanted him after he bombed with the Jets. Not saying this is JH but damn these NFL owners are like lemmings.
Oh and Mangini was on The Sopranos, so that was cool.

for a King Julien embed.
EDIT - apparently I can't tell a lemming from a lemur

Human nature: the more Jim Harbaugh is wanted by other teams and thus potentially unattainable by us, the more we want him. I guess this applies to every other team, too.
