Nice list, we have similar musical taste. I guess I need to check out Low, Cloud Cult and Skating Club. I haven't heard of those.
Low and Skating Club especially. I'm not a huge fan of Cloud Cult, but the question was about what I've listened to lately, so they would fall into that category.
Yep, that Low.

Taken in context w/ your others I thought so. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't this Low.

I saw my brother's band open for them in Athens, GA in 1997. I think "When the Curtain Hits the Cast" had just come out. Alan and Mimi had a big argument backstage that night before they played. Good taste, Marcus. Now chill out.
for those of you who list vampire weekend - aren't you tired of them yet? i loved that album for about two weeks and i can't get back into it. i almost dislike it now actually.
I don't listen to it very often, so that helps. They do have a strange sound, that's for sure.
Their music doesn't wow me, but it makes me happy.
I still really like that album. They are unique enough that it's hard to get sick of because it's unlike the other stuff I hear. Kinda like the first album from The Strokes.
fair enough. not knocking them - i was just curious if anyone else felt the same.
any dave matthews band fans on the board?
Blue Sky Black Death-Late Night Cinema.
If you like hip hop, this album is truly a groundbreaking must listen. It is an instrumental album by two guys that make beats for WU.
geeked for the Devo reunion tour..
Planet Funk
Kem
Stanley Clark
Herbie Hancock
The NewMastersounds
The Quantic
Listening to a compilation name Funk Soul Sister presently.
What Hancock albums are you listening to?
Quantic always kind of threw me -- the guy has a couple of tracks I really love ("Time Is the Enemy" comes to mind), but the rest of it is too white for me. I don't know. What albums of his do you like?
in the playa, however Head Hunter my favorite jazz-fusion album. After Miles,Herbie is next favorite jazz-fusion artist with Jaco Pastourouis (sp?) being next.
Checkout these tune by Quantic...Departure & Transatlantic. I find these two moreso jazz-fusion oriented...enjoy!
Manchild is great.
Have you heard that Japanese-only live album release, Flood? There's a badass solo piano version of Maiden Voyage on it that is by far my favorite version of that tune.
Thanks for the suggestion!
But not enough for the raise-the-glasses-shake-the-asses crowd.
Some tracks:
- Cazals - Poor Innocent Boys (Shinichi Osawa Remix)
- Ben Mono - Jesus Was A B-Boy (Moulinex Remix)
- Crookers* - What Up Y'all
- Discotech's Remix of The Police's "Roxanne"
- Ratatat's remix of B.I.G.'s "Party & Bullshit"
For the more organic and "real" instruments crowd (aka Music That I Can't Make With Only A Keyboard and 3GB of RAM):
Eli "Paperboy" Reed and The True Loves- "Ace of Spades"
Phosphorescent - "Reasons to Quit"
Hot Chip feat. Peter Gabriel - "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa"
Brooklyn Funk Essentials - Big Apple Boogaloo
10CC - Dreadlock Holiday
Cute Lepers - Terminal Boredom
And I'm pretty sure that I'm the only MGoBoarder who still enjoys Peter Luts ft. Dominico "What A Feeling". But I'm also I'm pretty sure I'm the only MGoBoarder who still enjoys raves and x, so there's that.
The Black Keys and Every Time I Die. Fantastic combo for a sunny afternoon.
what's your favorite keys album?
i love magic potion, but attack and release is pretty good, too - and a little bit different for them.
"Revolution 9."
