It would be nice to see him in Maize and Blue, I see him heading out to Cali.  Either going to Cal or USC.   Although Michigan has come at him pretty hard recently with the bye week, and was at the shootout game.  As long as he doesn't go to State.

I posted this thread in another Arnett thread, but it was near the bottom.

Tom's post is 1/3 down from the top.  He thinks that Arnett, Walls, and Zettel will not go to MSU.  Some sparty lover was making claims that all 3 may go to MSU.

So, there may be hope for Arnett, but at least he won't be Sparty.   This was a while back so Tom may have an update, but I will wait on Tom or just wait 1 more day.

Couple things that have been thrown out elsewhere lately:

1.) MSU actually seems like they're out of it at this point.

2.) Michigan has been on Arnett's radar for a lot longer than a lot of people here seem to think.  This visit wasn't just some random flier; he had been planning it for a while.  Fred Jackson has been recruiting him for a long, long time, and he definitely knows he's wanted here.

and it goes completely against my earlier "I don't think he's coming here" opinion.

As Brian noted, his recruitment has been weird.  No one knows his final destination for sure.  He has been spreading crazy things about Boise State, adding and dropping schools, etc.  Clearly, he wants his choice to be a surprise.  We also know that he went to great lengths to keep his visit to Michigan under wraps and was tweeting stuff about BSU while at Michigan.  Other things we have going for us:

  • He grew up a Michigan fan
  • He's instate (though at an MSU school)
  • He wants to stay close to home
  • The coaches never stopped recruiting him and were at his school during the bye-week
  • He saw a great passing game Saturday
  • We were the last school to visit before the decision

My half-baked theory - he wants his choice to be a surprise and him choosing Blue will be the surprise.

Thank you for your input, Captain Obvious.

Now, if we can only get Captain Hindsight to give us his opinion Thursday morning.

(seriously - I think you make some good points.  I mentioned yesterday the following as well:

  • Typically Tom doesn't give fluff to guys he thinks we don't have a shot with - and he's fluffed Arnett this week
  • Why would Arnett text Tom about getting his announcement timing wrong, if in fact he has no purpose of coming here?)

Seems to me that a lot of people are coming up with reasons for him to not come to Michigan.

Here are a couple reasons that I believe that he will.

1. Our helmets got wings.

2. Our offense is putting up some insane numbers and those are sure to get you noticed.

3. NCAA and freep(os) are through investigating

4. Unlike those who went to east lansing, he can qualify for UM.

5. Dang it. Because I want him to.

How about this?  In this offense, he will get a ton of one-on-one opportunities.  He is a very good route runner judging by film and others evaluation, which means he can beat one-on-ones frequently = many opportunities to make catches and run with the ball (e.g. Roundtree).

If I was a WR and just saw UM go gansta on Illinois and Roundtree break the record for WR's at a school where Carter, Edwards, Avant, Toomer, etc. etc. went. I might think twice.

Then again I'm 39 and out of shape. So living vicariously through young sports stars is all I got.

Who told him we don't throw? Seem's like we throw just as much as anyone else, a little too much if you ask me....DENARD JUST RUN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD RUN (Denard sits patting the ball then throws a strike to Roy for a TD over the middle)....Never mind just do your thang DRob.

Honestly that title does not sum up the report at all. There's nothing in there that says he's leaning towards Ann Arbor.

There is a ton of information floating around right now. I've heard decently credible people say Tenn, MSU, USC, and yes, even Michigan. Cal doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love, but who knows. Arnett's keep a lot of people in the dark, and unless it somehow leaks out after the phone calls today, I'm willing to bet it will be a surprise tomorrow for a lot of people.

He has always liked Ann Arbor and the University. If we had Ryan Mallett and a pro-style he would have committed to us a long time ago. He was convinced by some negative recruiting that Rodriguez has a run only spread that will not get him enough catches to get him to the NFL. He now sees that is bullshit. I don't know if he is coming here, but I would not be surprised at all if he did considering how positively he felt about Rodriguez and the team after the Illinois game. How could you not like this offense when not only do you have the leading rusher in the nation but also can break receiving records?
