RR crying on sidelines?

Submitted by Abe Froman on

hey, am i the only one who thought it really looked like RR's eyes were all teared up during the end of the game?

they kept cutting in for close ups of him, and either he has quite the twinkle in his eye or he was really tearing up.

Ones that I could remember the title to that were civil, I tried to bring back up. I felt like deleting examples of fans talking rationally sets a good example to the post-game crowd that "hey, we can handle this more responsibly than [massive whining]." All of them disappeared right before the post-game crowd came in, and several of the threads started by the post-game crowd were deleted.

Would they have posted stupid threads regardless of the other threads?  Yeah, a couple. But would they have been influenced to read a thread titled "bye bye RichRod", make a comment there to get out their initial frustration, and perhaps cut down on the number of stupid threads? I think that's a valid hypothesis. It at least would encourage some civility.

No coach has had such a rough start at a school then him.  Coming to a school like Michigan it should be a lot easier then this to win. He knows what he is up against. A lack of upperclassmen on defense, angry fans that just want to beat a rival not named Notre Dame and a uncertain future. I want him to stand up and lead this team to the promised land I just don't think he is going to have a chance to see his plan carried out.

I am earning my doctorate at Michigan right now. My education has taught me that rational and mature discussion solve issues. Just becuase you donated money means you know what is best for the program. I will let Brandon decide what is best. Calm down calling other people names is not helping the cause.

I hope you have an awesome career with your education, but acting like you are superrior by saying, "let Brandon decide" is passing the buck.

I'm presenting facts about RR's failure as a Michigan coach, and you have nothing to counter. If it makes you feel better, Brian said RR wouldn't be M's coach after the end of the season to the NYC M alumni club.

I am sorry, but Dave Brandon is the one with the most experience and best background to decide the fate of this program. The one thing I have learned in research science, is that those with the best background and resume (like DB) make the best decisions. Brian and none of us are that person. We are just white noise.

Like what Jon Stewart said today at the Rally to Restore Sanity, "If you amplify everything, you hear nothing."

Im bummed on the loss. I am.

But jblaze and Wovlerine318 EPIC POSTOFF is making me laugh..

Its like watching American Gladiators Joust, only with really nerdy kids arguing about how Superman flys faster, using insults instead of batons... FIGHT!

  1. Perhaps the most irrational thing on this thread is that you repeatedly tell other posters who are being quite rational, to be rational. Simply using that phrase as a crutch doesn't mean you are being rational. I don't think you really understand what it means - the inherent subjective aspect of what it means to be rational. Your continued use of it is what seems, well, irrational.
  2. There are many UM doctoral students on this blog, as well as those who have already finished their program. But you are the only one who continues to wave that status around as some badge, some reason for everyone to give you prima facie credence, to give your statements the benefit of the doubt. Its not working. If you were in my program I would be happy that we were competing in the same market. Unfortunately, your only influence for me will be your contribution to a general perception of UM PhDs.

Your response, coupled with all your other comments tonight, tells me all I need to know about your ability to think before you open your mouth.  Congratulations on your donation, I hope it gives you the ability to select our next head coach, you're certainly the right man for the job.

What does a "multi-million dollar contract" have to do with having a chance?

I doubt anyone who has watched this team this season doubts that this offense can work against anyone.  The issue is defensive talent and scheme.  I, like most people on this board, have little confidence in this defense.  Heck, we've had diaries that reasonably suggested we should go for it on every 4th down and onside kick after every score.

This team is no different than they were to start the season, a potent offense with a pathetic defense.   That is why in every recruiting thread someone suggests that the remaining recruits should all be on defense.  Why, when they are what we thought they'd be, do we hear so much hatred when the weakness we know is exposed every week?

I am thrilled with the offense and its potential and I am disgusted by the defense.  I believe they will both improve next season as the players mature both physically and in the scheme.  Then we will have an awesome offense (see Oregon) and an improved defense, which might be enough to put us back in the Big Ten title conversation.

Well...without all that money and, you know, being hired as the head coach...he'd never have a "chance".  But, being a highly paid coach at the winningest program in the history of the game is all the chance anyone can ask for.

from what you yourself just said: "This team is no different than they were to start the season".  8 games in there should be SOME improvement and instead we keep getting blown out, game after game, after game.

First defensive play last night and I saw the same guys in the back 7 with their backs turned to the QB.  I mean, seriously?  I know GERG doesn't read this site but maybe he should...seems like a lot of our shortcomings are pointed out week after week and yet we see the same mistakes over and over and over again.  What are they doing all week?

He got right in front of the D - GERG included - and lit them up. Seems like they went out and made a stop too.

Denard was about 10 yards of Passing and 10 yards of rushing tonight from his 3rd 200/200.

RR stays, but Gerg is looking for new digs.

Painful.

I imagine that for most Michigan fans, whether you're behind the coaches at the moment or not,  it's really hard to be level headed right now. The last time Michigan won a Big 10 game against a team not named Indiana was November 8, 2008! Two years is a long time for any fan base to just suck it up and not vent some frustrations.

Thankfully, David Brandon is a level headed leader that will be able to evaluate the program and its future potential at the end of the year and make the right decision.

Seeing that date. I can't belive that was the last big Ten win other then Indiana. Friggin Minnesota. It really has been along time. I am just shocked to see it in writing like that. It really is impossiable to defend.
