Minny's white helmets look horrible with the dark home colors.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:13 PM ^
God forbid we ever do anything like that. I know we'll never mess with the helmets but to go to the Rose Bowl so rarely that you make a special reference to it.....dang.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:06 PM ^
Zooker!
(never thought I'd say that with a straight face)
October 16th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
MSU looks to be sleepwalking after that opening drive.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
Illinois shows what even an average BIg 10 defense can do. Nice stop for them there.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
On their first drive too. It's early.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
but it's more how Illinois stopped MSU. That sack on 3rd and long seems to be a pretty strong statement.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
I don't know how I feel about the MSU/Illinois game. If MSU wins, they continue their streak and look like a legit team, but they are State so rooting for them makes me sick. If Illinois loses, their momentum from the Penn St. game and perhaps their season will unravel, but watching MSU stumble is always fun.
That play action pass for MSU is just not working for them. Cousins had the same issue last week, and already has the Illinois defense in his face.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
i dont think they are as bad as people think. I know they Penn State has no offense, but ot put up 33 points on their D is pretty impressive. Hopefully they beat MSU and shut up all of sparty nation.
Let's Go Blue!
October 16th, 2010 at 12:13 PM ^
That was a catch. Refs are letting the hometown fans make the calls.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^
total catch
October 16th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^
They're in midday form already.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:15 PM ^
inside the ten on Indiana. Good gravy.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
Arkansas St as I hit save.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
I think we're gonna know allot about the B10 after today. Illinois gave Ohio State a tough time. If they beat MSU I have to think they are a legit squad despite what their record indicates. Same goes for us if we manage to beat Iowa. The night game (Ohio State v Wiscy) promises to be a good one as well. Our conference is brutal this time of year...
October 16th, 2010 at 12:17 PM ^
Ilini have a nice little drive going
I took all four underdogs in Big 10 play. I also have Pitt -1
Not much scoring early yet
October 16th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
Chris Martin is unlistenable. Worst color guy in college football.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
I understand establish the run, blah, blah, blah. But the 3rd and longs....don't seem to be problem so far.
EDIT: Would've been nice to have had a few PI/D Holding calls last week.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
There's the Sparty we know and love.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
Somebody mentioned above that MSU looked flat. I dont know so much about that, its hard to judge that so early. But, the crowd sure is flat.
Although that penalty sequence shows Sparty isnt nearly in tight form right now
October 16th, 2010 at 12:23 PM ^
Does any one know why Purdue is wearing their away uniforms for a home game?
October 16th, 2010 at 12:27 PM ^
Teams are allowed to do that. LSU and I think Georgia Tech always wear white at home. I'm not sure why Purdue is doing that today, though.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
I've seen that a several times this year on TV games. The other that comes to mind right away was the James Madison/ V-Tech game.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
Three weeks in a row, Sparty dodges points early.
Gotta give their red zone D some props
October 16th, 2010 at 12:24 PM ^
Well Sparty stiffened when they had to.
TWIS!
October 16th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
October 16th, 2010 at 12:25 PM ^
Purdue just ran the midline to perfection for a 3 yard touchdown. We really need to adopt that play.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:38 PM ^
RichRod: thanks, without your bringing this play to my attention I wouldn't have known about it. Would you like to be my offensive coordinator?
October 16th, 2010 at 12:27 PM ^
Illinois need to be a few inches short when they got that 1st n goal. 2nd and inches from the 8 is much better than 1st and goal from the 8.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:27 PM ^
Illinois has pretty much already kicked more touchbacks in the game than we have all season.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:28 PM ^
And keep it interesting at the end, and with Texas-Nebraska at 3:30, I think this is the week the Fan Vision thing pays big dividends.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:29 PM ^
OT: Does anyone know where to find an HD stream of the game today?
October 16th, 2010 at 12:29 PM ^
The play fake isn't working at all for MSU.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:31 PM ^
...that you'll never see thanks to BTN
October 16th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
At least the announcers were REALLY excited about it.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
So Illinois doesn't go with the "run your most diminutive RB into the line on 3rd and short" strategy.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
Those are some serious dreads.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:38 PM ^
Holy dreads. Denard still has a thing or two to learn it seems.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:44 PM ^
you can barely see his numbers!! I think it looks pretty terrible personally. Nothing beats the classic dreads look (see: Denard, Smith, Hemmingway, Odoms, Stokes, Gallon, Ash, etc.) Wow, we really do have a lot of dreadlocked guys on our team! I love it!
October 16th, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
Locks = speed. I like speed.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:39 PM ^
Why couldn't state get more of those penalities last week? Illinois might actually have a football team this year.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
Scheelhaase is very poised for a freshman. He's going to be a good one - as long as Zook doesn't find a way to screw him up.
EDIT: And then he throws to Tacopants and gets picked off.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:48 PM ^
Nah, it was on target to the deeper receiver... just an awful decision. HIs passes also aren't all that sharp. He will be one of the two worst QBs we face all year.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:46 PM ^
Purdue has rose stems on both sides of their helmets. Pretty cocky.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:46 PM ^
I think they're commemerating their last trip to Pasadena. Not saying they're going there this year.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
MSU penalties are not ironic. MSU penalties are expected, because Dantonio's discipline is a myth.
October 16th, 2010 at 12:46 PM ^
Well look at Sparty. Wow. That was a worse INT than any of Denard's.
EDIT: Obvs not worse in terms of where it happened on the field but way worse in terms of a poor throw
