Are you basing this on a sample size of n=2, or are you really an assistant coach and have been watching practices?

We're sitting here watching the games, and we're in here talking practice??
Dileo looks way better on special teams "In Games" You will probably start to see more of Dileo in the coming weeks.

Practice? talking about practice? Common man, not the game, not the game, but practice?
September 25th, 2010 at 3:53 PM ^
Sample size of the other half has been much larger - Gallon has been consistently making really bad decisions on fielding punts all season.

Are you seriously going to pull out the "you aren't in practice so you aren't allowed to make judgements about anything you see on the field" crap? If that's the standard for commenting then why do we even have a fan forum? By that logic every decision every coach in America makes is above critique because the fans aren't in practice.
I've seen plenty of Gallon to know that he struggles at returning punts. Even if I hadn't seen Dileo today I would want to see someone else besided Gallon in there to see if they can do the job better when it counts.

He only had three stars.

It's not only the fumbles and kicks he shouldn't return, but other punts that he could have caught that roll for another 15 yards.
Gallon is getting reps at the slot, so it's not like he would be completely benched.

At least keep using the double returners.

It may be a bit premature to call for Dileo on all punt returns, but he does seem to be a solid returner. I am fine with whoever helps to keep this team out of 85-yard-drives.

this is the first game where gallon actually had a legitament returning game. both returners performed alright. i still go with gallon until dileo beats him out
September 25th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
very solid. He had good returns, plus, I dunno... our other returns always look kind of funny catching the ball. Like they're not sure if they'll get it. He just looked smooth and easy.
September 25th, 2010 at 3:46 PM ^
Yup he's a natural. Thinking the job will be all his at some point. Maybe not quite as explosive as Gallon but will catch everything and make good decisions.
Gallon may get the job back long term but Dileo is safer for now.
September 25th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
looked good also. Didn't he have a few nice receptions also?
September 25th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
I think possibly he's referencing, in addition to Gallon's fumbliness, a certain lack of judgment when deciding whether or not to catch balls near his own endzone.
September 25th, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
Gallon has had issues with the short kicks (which will go to Dileo) but has done fine on normal kicks. Win-win.

The only thing I want out of a KR or PR at the University of Michigan is someone with the ability to HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL.
September 25th, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
I'm not choicy, I welcome any opportunity to screw up an opponents punt, happy to see the D force punts.

Gallon made another TERRIBLE Descion on punt return...he fielded the punt at the 5 and it looked like he got to the 10 but they marked him down at the 6. LET THE BALL GO THRU THE ENDZONE! He has made a mistake in every game this year field punts.
They did do something different today where they had 2 returners back there? Im not sure if they were side by side or if Dileo was infront of Gallon. But i did like the outcome on Dileo's returns. Gallon does not seem like the right guy back there...
September 25th, 2010 at 5:27 PM ^
Maybe I'm mistaken, but am I the only one who thought Gallon played really well today?
September 25th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
Dileo looked like a natural back there. More of him, less of Gallon. Not a knock on Gallon, who obviously has talent in the open field with the ball but you have to make good decisions to get to that point as a PR.
