More Dileo on punt returns please

Submitted by Trepps on

He's shown more on 2 returns than Gallon has all year.

Are you basing this on a sample size of n=2, or are you really an assistant coach and have been watching practices?

Are you seriously going to pull out the "you aren't in practice so you aren't allowed to make judgements about anything you see on the field" crap?  If that's the standard for commenting then why do we even have a fan forum?  By that logic every decision every coach in America makes is above critique because the fans aren't in practice.

I've seen plenty of Gallon to know that he struggles at returning punts.  Even if I hadn't seen Dileo today I would want to see someone else besided  Gallon in there to see if they can do the job better when it counts.

It may be a bit premature to call for Dileo on all punt returns, but he does seem to be a solid returner.  I am fine with whoever helps to keep this team out of 85-yard-drives.

and his partner in the booth said today longer drives give more opportunity to pad the stats and the future that DRob has. however, i agree working with a short field is MUCH more desirable. speaking of Dileo watch the replays of his returns and i believe you will see his shoulders and hips turn literally perpendicular to his feet going north and south. his flexibility allows him to turn and squirm while not losing speed! it keeps getting better! GO BLUE!

very solid. He had good returns, plus, I dunno... our other returns always look kind of funny catching the ball. Like they're not sure if they'll get it. He just looked smooth and easy.

I think possibly he's referencing, in addition to Gallon's fumbliness, a certain lack of judgment when deciding whether or not to catch balls near his own endzone.

Gallon made another TERRIBLE Descion on punt return...he fielded the punt at the 5 and it looked like he got to the 10 but they marked him down at the 6.  LET THE BALL GO THRU THE ENDZONE! He has made a mistake in every game this year field punts.

They did do something different today where they had 2 returners back there?  Im not sure if they were side by side or if Dileo was infront of Gallon. But i did like the outcome on Dileo's returns. Gallon does not seem like the right guy back there...

Dileo looked like a natural back there.  More of him, less of Gallon.  Not a knock on Gallon, who obviously has talent in the open field with the ball but you have to make good decisions to get to that point as a PR.
