Punt and bury em deep, you held them a couple times already this half. That's on everyone's Wonder-coach Kelly.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:27 PM ^
We've still got three minutes of SPARTY NO!!! to go.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
I have not been impressed with Kelly's gameday coaching. He has been great with player development (i.e. his QBs), but some of his decisions are just reckless as opposed to being aggressive.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
dangerously close to channeling the Chuck Wagon with some of these reckless calls.

You seem to forget that ND is loaded with top-tier recruits. He didn't come into a program that had empty cupboards and had to rebuild with 2/3 star recruits. All things considered, even after losing Jimmah & Co. that team was still pretty stacked with young talent and they are now 1-2.
I don't visit ND board, but I would venture they are blowing up even worse than this one with our near miss.
I'll also add this...My son has watched them two weeks in a row and has said that Lelly seems like an A-hole and he wouldn't want to play for him. We'll see how well he recruits now.

Cousins throws it instead of just falling down and causing ND to use the last timeout. Brilliant.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
The beautiful part about this game is someone has to lose.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:40 PM ^
Aren't they all losers any way?
September 18th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
Looks like plenty of Sparty Fail moments for both teams in this game...
September 18th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
Neither one of these sorry ass teams deserves to win.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
on the OT coin toss, MSU won, and their guy almost said just "defer" and let the nd take defense first, but he said both and the ref helped correct him. I would have died laughing if he had actually deferred and let ND go on D first.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
Holy COW!!! Fake fg to win that was gutsy sparty.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
ND fail. awesome!
September 18th, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
Charlie Tuna and the BK broiler. Peas in a pod. 1-2.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
Irish tears will taste so sweet on TWIS.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
Holy shit! What a great fake field goal.
Notre Dame is going to be all over TWIS.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
but what a call. Wow.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:01 AM ^
Yeah, I was actually feeling slightly impressed with the play call... then Dantonio showed up on my screen and I was once again reminded just how much of a dick he is.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:51 PM ^
Well. Yes. Now I think so.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
We might as well resort to doing that. I mean, there has to be higher probability of converting that than Gibbons or Broekhuizen making a FG.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
That was a ballsy fucking call, and perfectly done. But damn do I hate Dantonio's shit-eating grin.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:42 AM ^
Yeah. It's a good thing we only see it about once a year.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Am I the only one who saw it hit 0 before the snap? Only thing funnier than that call would have been the refs bringing it back for delay of game.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:53 PM ^
Hate them both, but from a pure football perspective, that was awesome.
September 18th, 2010 at 11:54 PM ^
Isn't that special?

September 18th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
the fg attempt was too long, particularly with an inexperienced kicker.
ND really should have been looking for that.

September 18th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
Dantonio just teabagged Kelly on national TV. He is a prick, but that was a gutsy call. You could tell by Dantonio's shit-eating, I-am-a-genius grin after the game.
September 19th, 2010 at 12:02 AM ^
My only issue is....
They run the ball all over ND all night. They get into OT and they decide their best option is to PASS? IN OT? Please don't try to tell me they needed to lose yards to try the fake field goal in the first place.
That was some terrible play calling which got them to that point in the first place. The runs they were getting during the second half were amazing. There was a complete lack of run defense by ND. They should have run it down their throats for the TD rather than taking a couple sacks and having to throw the fake field goal.

Les Miles Syndrome: Either your brass balls are too big to carry, or you lack the brains to know where you're going.
Glad Sparty decided to break this out on ND and not us; one more thing to cover in special teams practice.

feel bad for ND, but then I remember they are ND and yeah, they deserved it...haha.
