Early Games Open Thread
Will the Florida Atlantic Owls prevail at home in downtown Detroit against Sparty? Will the game sell out? Will Schnelly get lower than a .18 BAC during the game?
Discuss.
Also, if you have an iron liver, drink every time the announcers mention FAU is the home team. You're behind three drinks as of 11:53.

But lolphers still down 14-10
September 11th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
for the 12 pm slot so far. I've got USF-UF on Ch. 899 on. Impressed with USF. Also, wtf Minnesota??
September 11th, 2010 at 1:06 PM ^
So after the Thursday game I was wondering..........Is tOSU that good or WVU that bad??
September 11th, 2010 at 1:28 PM ^
My take is West Virgina is going to shaky in the Big East. UConn, USF and Cinci looking good today. The canes will answer the OSU question, and my gut is OSU is solid this year (alas and egad).
September 11th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
WVU would not have won that game had Marshall's coach not detached his penis in the third quarter and buried it somewhere on the sidelines. It's looking like WVU is going to be in trouble this year (and probably for some time into the future).
September 11th, 2010 at 1:10 PM ^
i cannot believe we have finally found play-by-play and color commentary worse than Pam Ward. He is moving up in the world of college football.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
Sparty's got some penalty issues. Didn't they have 9 or 10 last week?
September 11th, 2010 at 1:16 PM ^
If they aren't careful they might get their parole revoked
September 11th, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
I've been watching the UConn game and at 31-0 it is getting pretty ugly. Granted it is Texas Southern but UConn may end up being a pretty good team, which only makes us look better.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:20 PM ^
Is that game on in the Detroit area?
September 11th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
Probably not - I am in CT - it is on SNY - NY area
Now 45-0 right before the half - yikes
September 11th, 2010 at 1:17 PM ^
I dont understand how USF is not the class of the big east....the talent they should get in there should be good enough to win the big east constantly.
UF yea, no wonder Urban wanted to quit when Tebow left good lord..Brantley is struggling to get used to the speed of the game!
September 11th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
Florida's defense looks like crap and USF has all the momentum right now.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
LOLphers now trail 21-10 late in second qtr.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:22 PM ^
Wow, does Minnesota suck. I look forward to us again playing for the Little Brown Jug every year.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:24 PM ^
Since this is an "Early Games" thread and doesn't mention college football specifically I mention that Hercules is up 2 goals against Barca, upset of the morning so far.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:30 PM ^
Is Lattimore the genuine article or is Georgia still in rebuild mode?
September 11th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
UGa is definitely rebuilding but Lattimore looks like a stud nonetheless
September 11th, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
I don't know about Georgia, but this should be Spurrier's best team at South Carolina.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
when South Carolina's offense doesn't have their heads up their butts, I am very impressed with Lattimore and Garcia so far. I am disappointed we couldn't sign Lattimore. He is a complete beast.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
I've never been a Garcia fan. Just never thought he had the mettle but he is showing some skill and talent today. As far as Lattimore, boy he's a good one. It is a shame we couldn't yoink him out of SC.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
I gve you +1 for using the word "yoink." You should submit it to the OED.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:32 PM ^
is lousy?
September 11th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
45-0 at the half so time to head out for some fresh air before the main event at 3:30.
One take on this game - Frazer is just not a very accurate passer. He has all day to throw and the receivers are wide open - it looks like a practice drill - and he still doesn't hit them in stride. If he can't get better at that it will likely hurt them all year against better teams. Too bad for them because they are pretty good in some other areas.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
But I was wondering if anyone else saw that Pat White signed a contract with the KC Royals. I remember reading that he was a great high school baseball player. Could be a very nice career move if he makes it to the majors. A lot longer shelf life in MLB than the NFL.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
SD scores on a 61-yard pass. Great googily moogily. Minnesota is horrid.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
It would be a great story if he caught a break with the Royals. Outfielder chasing fly balls has to be better on the constitution than running for life from 260lb linebackers. Best of luck to him.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
I hope David Gilreath is ok. Being put in an ambulance right now.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
Sad. I like his game. Got a little lost in the shuffle a year ago. I hope its just precautionary.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
punt returner Gilreith (sp?) took a sandwich hit on a helmet to helmet. looks serious... knocked out
September 11th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
His hands were moving as they were putting him into the ambulance so hopefully that's a good sign.
September 11th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
27-10 SoDak over Minny
September 11th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
And the University of South Dakota is not on it, nor are they one of the unranked teams that received votes.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
Their basketball team just moved up to DI 3 or 4 years ago, I doubt their Football team has been there much longer than that.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
Big Ten Network just named Adam Weber and some Minnesota receiver as their "RO-TEL - Velveeta Connection of the Game." Even though Minnesota is trailing by 11 to a bad Div. 1-AA team.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:14 PM ^
Marve proving he's worth all the hype today. YPC 5.2 , 1 TD and 1 INT
Dierking still at 6.2 /carry
September 11th, 2010 at 2:14 PM ^
MSU-FAU game stream not working, any other suggestions?
Wisconsin has some apparent Red Zone issue with the ball. They've potentially left 18 points on the field due to fumbles/turnovers in the RZ. [Hope Gilreath is ok, and it appears that taking him to the hospital is just cautionary.]
Also, WTF Purdue and Florida? Florida was suspect to begin with I guess, and as much as I hate Purdue('s coach) and it makes me feel better about ND, I don't like seeing a Big 10 team struggling to score on the WIU's of the world.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:15 PM ^
could have had 2 FCS opponents on our schedule instead of just 1.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:17 PM ^
ZING!
September 11th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
One bright spot for Minnesota: they've gone back to their yellow pants, instead of that awful all-maroon look, which resembled a set of pajamas.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
This has got to be Weber's 8th season at UMinnesota. Only Carlos Snow had a longer tenure in the Big Ten.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
I think Bevell only started 7 seasons for Wisconsin so Weber must have the record now
September 11th, 2010 at 2:19 PM ^
Yikes, this South Carolina game is getting away from me.
UGA dominating the third quarter
September 11th, 2010 at 2:22 PM ^
South Carolina looks alright. That young running back they have is dynamite.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
On a 28-27 final score in Ford Field
Do it Owls. Channel your inner CHIPS!!!!!
September 11th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
I just can't get into that game. I turn it on and the complete lack of college atmosphere in the stadium (coupled with the horrible announcers) bores me.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:28 PM ^
I have it on mute
The sound on my TVs has been alternating between USC/UGA and USF/Fla, since they are better games and the ones I gambled on.
I kept the MSU game on just to watch Sparty, so I can be an allegedly more informed Big 10 blogger. But I havent been paying any attention at all. Stupid Owls just shot themselves in the foot, though
By far, the worst atmosphere of any of the games I'm watching. Even at KU they are rocking and rolling.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:25 PM ^
But yeah, I can't watch it either. Even an ounce of weed couldn't make that game tolerable.
September 11th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
I said the same thing to the girlfriend after she dragged me to see the Last Airbender this summer
When a football game reminds me of that, does that mean you've turned a corner as a program?
