I thought we might originally be ranked because I read blog posts earlier in the day by Lesmerises and Solomon, where they released their ballots (and we were at 8 and 11 respectively).

But lets hope we're still on that list at the end of the year!
Long way to go - but you just gotta love the start!

On the list? Heretic. We have Denard, therefore we will be at the top of the list.

I would like to know who voted us 8th. Does RR have that much confidence in his team?
<edit> I am a retard. AP poll.

I know this has been stated at legnth already over the past years, but I do wish the AP poll was part of the BCS process and that coaches poll was not. The press has the ability to watch every game while the coaches simply can not given they must play their own game. Point in case, look at where Note Dame is in relation to us in the coaches poll.

I've had no respect for the Coaches' Poll ever since Fulmer proved it's worthlessness in 1997.

I like flying under the radar right now. I have no problem with not being ranked (although the coaches as usual rate Michigan lower than they should be- jealousy isn't becoming, fellas). I hope Michigan uses it as motivation and earns that rank with a beatdown of the entitled Irish this weekend.
September 7th, 2010 at 2:16 PM ^
I would say that we are officially on the radar now.

The spotlight is always bright at the Big House, but I take them not getting ranked as skepticism and a "wait-and-see" attitude on the voters' part. I hope the team feels slighted and continues to play with that big chip on their shoulder. I guess I meant under the radar in terms of expectations.

Still too early to say whether or not we're a top 26 team. I'm with the coaches that think that the first polls shouldn't come out until the first week in October. Should we beat Notre Dame this coming weekend on the road will go a long way toward being ranked in the top 25 by all the major polls.
September 7th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
And in the coaches' poll, Cincy is receiving more votes than Fresno State...
Why do we let these people (minus the AP poll) determine who goes to the championship game?!
September 7th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
Perfect. Stay hungry my friends.
September 7th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
Stay thirst, my friends.
September 7th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
Eh, wake me up when the polls actually have a concrete basis for ranking the teams. One win against an unknown UConn team shouldn't be enough to justify votes. Nobody really knows much of anything about this season after one game. Polls need to start after week three.
September 7th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
I like how michigan state only got 2 votes
September 7th, 2010 at 2:40 PM ^
Why is everyone confused?
1. Michigan
2. Denard
3. Denard
4. Brock
5. UConn
.
.
.
.
120. Ohio State
September 7th, 2010 at 3:00 PM ^
122. PROFIT!!!

September 7th, 2010 at 2:58 PM ^
from the coaches. WTF. Houston got 87. UCONN got 6. The coaches poll is worthless.
September 7th, 2010 at 4:18 PM ^
Not necessarily 17 votes. You get one point for being voted 25th, two points for being voted 24th, and so on. We probably appeared on only like 7-10 coaches' ballots.
September 7th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
as I am these Notre Dame BANNER ADS RIGHT HERE ON OUR BLOG!!!!! Urrr??
September 7th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
i had the nd ads earlier today, just had "BUY YOUR BOISE STATE GEAR" ad... really?? and now i have a deep fryer, which, if I knew how to deep fry, would be a great investment.
September 7th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
I like this spot. Not ranked, but poised to jump in should we beat ND. Then a couple gimme games to pad the ranking a bit before Big Ten play. We'd likely be inside the top 20 when Big Ten play starts if we win against ND.
September 7th, 2010 at 4:16 PM ^
That's a pretty funky spread - 26th in one poll, 35th in the other. I don't know if I've ever seen a larger one.
September 7th, 2010 at 4:58 PM ^
and I don't think breaking into the Top-25 will make this team any less hungry.
