It's pretty clear that money is the only thing that the MSU BoT, regents, etc. care about. So I hope all of the victims get punitive damages. Because even though it won't help them (the victims) heal, some serious sociopaths at MSU might start to take shit seriously.

Not to revel in this tragedy, but if, without being told why, you were told in 2014 that all this would happen in these particular few days you would mark your calenders right then and there and wait vigorously for this moment

Most of this week, I spent time wondering when or if we would hear from Mark Hollis - even a brief statement would have been interesting, although now it would have been far too little and far too late, and really, that sums up his leadership here - far too little, and far too late. I imagine that in the last few weeks in particular he must have known that his position was increasingly untenable, so it was also a "when", not an "if", on when he would either be removed or resign.

He could (will) be subject of a criminal investigation. I see years, maybe a decade or so for Klages. If they can trace it up to simon from her, she gone and so is anyone in between. Nothing to be happy about all around. Litigation for years. Repayment for something that cannot be compensated for. A disgrace of epic proportions. Sad for ruined and ended lives.

"Worst case is that the lawsuits run to the Billions and the state amends the Consitution and puts UofM in charge of MSU due to the loss of state money."

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I can't resist commenting about this whole mess any longer.  I made a reference to "Larry Nassar State University" on Facebook, and my Spartan friends were outraged.  They started talking about "class".  I thought back to the whole Ed Martin mess, and how much fun all the Sparties had dumping on Michigan (typical well-reasoned statement: "Michigan sucks!"), and I'm wondering how much "class" and restraint they're actually owed.  Here's what I feel like saying to them:

I remember back in the 90s when Michigan was suffering through the Ed Martin scandal, and how considerate and supportive you all were.  That was so wise and foresighted, since you knew that someday, if the tables were turned, you could count on Michigan fans to be just as considerate and supportive back.

I think we can all do better than "MSU sucks!", but I'm sticking with "Larry Nassar State University" for a while, just to make sure they know we're still watching this mess unfold.

MSU and PSU and OSU have all used the "oh yeah, prove it" defense in the past for their previous scandals, not cooperating and stonewalling until the authorities give up.  MSU won't be able to use that defense this time.  This is one scandal that isn't going to "just go away".
