New offer: 2018 Northville K Jake Moody

Submitted by Magnus on

Northville (MI) Northville kicker Jake Moody reported a scholarship offer on Twitter today, which is very interesting, considering Michigan has RS sophomore Quinn Nordin and sophomore Brad Robbins already on scholarship as specialists. He hit a couple 50+ yard field goals this year and 95% of his kickoffs were touchbacks.

Seems like we prefer transfer QB's to just about anything though. It's actually a good strategy. Why waste time and resources recruiting top QB's out of high school when you can just wait for one to become available after a program wide scandal at an SEC school?? Harbaugh is playing 3d chess

Manitis is correct.  Foug was a WEAPON on kickoffs.  His ability to drop hanging kickoffs on the 1 was amazing and helped the KO team lead the nation in return yardage allowed.  Moody has the leg to either kick high or put it in the stands.  His punting is very capable as well, although he lacks consistency much like our current punters.

Unless either Brad Robbins' status or Quinn Nordin's status has changed and the coaches don't expect either or both of them to return, by offering a scholarship to a kicker at this late date, does this mean that they don't expect to land Nicholas Petit-Frere, Otis Reese, JaMarr Chase, Tyler Friday and Jarrett Patterson?

Is the back-up plan for the 2018 recruiting class now in-state players CB Vincent Gray, K Jake Moody and some preferred walk-ons?

My son has played both football and baseball with young Mr. Moody.....great kid and family.  He hit an 80+ yard kickoff for a touchback (after a penalty), along with the FGs mentioned in the OP.  Jake also punted, but it's not as eye-popping a skill as his placekicking.  Strong leg, tough to rattle.  Very coachable kid....hope we get him in the fold.

You're clearly a troll who waited 9.5 years while gaining only 40 or so points just to pretend you have information about a 2018 kicker with an offer from Air Force.

I'm on to you, jim4blue. Nobody else is.

But I am.

Get his imagining that Michigan degree, knowing he'd have to pay a year at the longest and then maybe get that extra year for work on his grad degree

Sam Webb just tweeted a Utah DB grad transfer is supposedly going to visit UM. I guess I didn't know they were looking at these positions. I don't know if the guy is a CB or Safety.

Heck yes you take this kid. What a stud.

He will only make those here better and he can kickoff, maybe punt (with more work dedicated to it) and keep Nordin in check or push him for field goals.
