Angelique Chengelis has a nice piece in today's DetNews regarding Shane Morris's transfer to CMU.  It looks like Morris will finally get a chance to start - it seems ages ago that we were swooning about the potential of his arm cannon lighting up the scoreboard at the Big House.  The article makes it seem that all's well in Morris's life.  I'm proud to have Morris as a Wolverine alumnus, and I hope he dominates in the MAC.

What did he think about his four years at Michigan?

“Greatest four years of my life,” Morris told The Detroit News this week over lunch. “I loved it there. I don’t regret anything. I had an unbelievable time, got a great education. To be able to say I graduated from the No. 1 public university in the world, it was an unbelievable time.”

And his thoughts about his time on the field at Michigan from a football perspective?

“I honestly think it was a great experience for me to help me become a better man, smarter, and understand how to go through adversity. Keeping your head up and still working and not giving up,” Morris said. “I would rather have had what happened to me when I was 19 years old than have it when I’m 35 and have a family and I’m not prepared. I lose my job as a 35-year-old with a wife and kids, what am I going to do?
“I didn’t want to go through it. No one wants to go through it, but you don’t get to choose what happens to you in life. You’d like to see it go different. Most people would. But there’s nothing you can do about it. I believe God has a plan. Everything happens for a reason. I don’t know what the plan was, but I’m getting another opportunity. I’m going to make the most of it.”

The kid clearly thought pretty highly of himself and his arm cannon when he signed. Too bad it didn't work out for him as a starter at Michigan, but everyone has a role on the team. Awesome to see him understand the truth and have such a great attitude about it at his age. I think he'll do great in life. Maybe he'll even finish off his football career on a high note. I'll be rooting for him vs everyone except Toledo.

Michigan went from Shane Morris being the annointed savior to having two four star QB's serve as backups/developmental projects with another one in the fold for the 2018 class.

He's a better man than me.  That's what I'd like to say/think, but it would be just talk and nto the real truth in my gut.  Good for him.

Paul Verska was the coach at Ann Arbor Huron High when I went there, longer ago than I care to talk about. In order to fulfill a PE req, I actually had to have a class with him which was pretty much light spring training for the football team. I remember him (and the rest of the guys) being as pleasant as could be and complimenting me on my moxie even though I ran slower than the backup center and benched 1/8th of whatever the kicker managed. Anyone who could get Huron High to a state championship in football has gotta be a solid coach.

But I know a guy who has a line on Chip players and coaches, and he said the job is Shane's. The only thing that could prevent it is injury.

Character, maturity, class.  I must say, I'm impressed.  From the adulation and accolades that were showered upon him before he even suited up in a college football uniform to being told his best shot of ever playing would be to transfer must have been a humbling experience, and so public.  I'm almost certain I would not have handled it so well. And there are plenty of examples of others who have let similar adversity define them and send them in a downward spiral Congratulations to Morris on his Michigan degree, and I wish him the best of luck on whatever he ends up doing with his life after college.

Just what is a Michigan man anyway? I will respond with one of my all time favorite Michigan man, Shane Morris. There are others who have had all the success they can handle but that's not the only ingrediant that makes a Michigan man. Getting rich in the NFL because you worked your fanny off at UM makes it easier to be a Michigan man.

The true test is to remain steadfast even though you were tested repeatedly by adversity or other negatives beyond your control during your elegability at the university. This describes Shane fairly or not, accurately. A undying love inspite of adversity or tests, trials, and worse the kid turned into a man at Michigan without much accolade but never pointed a finger never bemoaned his perdicament he just took his cards and played em the best way he knew how.

A Michigan man for all to be proud of and not because he did not have a record smahing time at Michigan but especially because he didn't and you would never know it by listening to him talk about his days at the school he loves. I wish this young man gets the chance he deserves in the NFL and I for one will cheer him on no matter what team he plays for. Thank you Shane for choosing Michigan and never letting anyone down while you were there. Good luck and Go Shane and Go Blue!

I've always thought Shane handled himself really well, and this article just cements that thinking.

He could have done a drive by against the program, like a former NY Giant did against Harbaugh, and laid blame on everyone except himself. But he didn't

Gotta respect the hell out of that kid.

Remember how Shane Morris was an incredibly enthusiastic recruiter before he signed with the team? He has a good attitude.

Godspeed Shane. I hope you have a great football season, and good fortune with your business career.
