Demar Dorsey News (not good)
Seems like he has signed a letter of intent with Fort Scott CC in Kansas. Anybody have any info on this? This. Sucks. Balls. if true.

Sam Webb strongly hinted that this might be related to grades and/or qualifying, but he specifically said he did not want to talk about grade issues about specific kids. Listening between the lines, I think Webb has heard more than he's willing to say on-air. If Dorsey does end up at a JC, that greatly lessens the chances he will eventually come here, IMHO.
No doubt Birkett will crow over this if it comes to pass.
blueblueblue: I heard about this first on WTKA about 15 minutes ago, and they heard it from somebody who saw the alleged info on a JC website.
...that he didn't know anything about it till the report, because Ira said he was going to blow up the next 5 minutes, then Sam removed himself to check it out. But it DOES sound like he knows a little more now.
Hard to tell, because they're having technical difficulties with the phone, and have pretty much removed themselves for taped interviews.
F**k Birkett
This is bad news any way you slice it. If it's legit then we don't get an awesome talent that could help us right away and the local media will sink their teeth into it. If it is a back up plan then the media will still sink their teeth in and make the kids image worse. I feel for him because 97.1 is going to have a field day with this.
I can just hear Mike Valenti now "this is just more proof that RichRod is bringing a bad crowd into Ann Arbor." Terry Foster: "Yeah, you're right, Mike. I mean look at how BRANDON GRAHAM DECIDED TO LEAVE FOR THE NFL. Even his own players don't like him.
Roster hit aside, I don't see how this exposes RichRod to any more criticism. I'm subscribing to the back up plan theory b/c it makes a lot of sense. That said, it'd suck to not have Dorsey available...for any reason.
Don't listen to 97.1.
Whether any of us listen to it or not will not matter because we are the informed minority. It's the occasional and uninformed fan that worries me. They are easily swayed.
97.1 has a huge audience, and their showhosts sound very convincing. Also they tend to shout down most people who disagree with them. It's yellow journalism at its finest.
You ever listened to sports radio before?
touche'
to get talked about and there is no way around it... but i really can't see this being bigger than the sparty lather that will be going on today with final 4 being tomorrow...
I looked at last year's "class" for the CC and their roster and:
77 guys "signed" with them last year
34 actually were on the team
That means that about 56% "signed" but didn't go there. I still have to believe this is a back up plan...
Thank you for bringing some logic into the discussion.
I don't want a mass suicide on our hands here.
Anyone else as highly rated as Dorsey?
I guess I could look myself.
I'd like to have him, but we are so deep and talented at corner - and in the defensive backfield, in general - that it really doesn't matter.
Are you aware of how talented Dorsey is? Its not about just the defensive backfield, he is going to probably return kickoffs and punts too. He's one of those kids where you just have to have him on the field as much as possible and get the ball in his hands. Our corner depth is not that great either, we need as much talent as we can get back there and Dorsey is a major piece of the puzzle.
Was my sarcasm not obvious enough? Jeez.
'twas not.
Edit: I don't think people are in the mood for sarcasm this morning.
Looks like everyone is too freaked out to pick up on sarcasm this morning.
Was in dire need of a [SARCASM] tag.
It's all about timing.
I thought it was.
has yet to be determined in the defensive backfield. There's a lot of guys who were talented high school players, but not many of them have yet to show that they are talented college players on saturdays in the fall.
that he is a top 10 kid (not at his position, but period). That should say it all.
If it doesn't UF and USC really wanted him. How many other UM recruits does that apply to?
Ricardo Miller and Marvin Robinson before they committed early and took themselves off of the recruiting radar.. Richard Ash had a lot of interest from both schools until his weight became an issue.
So the real answer is not a lot. So this guy must be at or near the top of our class.
Yeah, I'm sure some people picked up on it and don't get me wrong we love us some sarcasm. But sometimes it is just in bad taste.
National Signing Day was just a little more than a month ago.....and assuming that Fort Scott CC has somewhat of a lag time behind LOI signings and posting them on the internet, I think we can safely assume that Dorsey signed his Fort Scott LOI at least a week or two ago.
Demar Dorsey's grade situation hasn't changed significantly over the past month, so it's obvious that he's in a gray area for qualifying or getting in to UofM and was in that same gray area when he was recruited by our staff.
He still needs some work to do and everyone knows it, so let's hope that Demar can get his grades up and scores up far enough to get in to school.
Remember the Gallon situation last year?
Interesting to mention Gallon. I wonder how many players on our team right now signed LOIs to community colleges?
The NJCAA is going to have a record day for hits to Fort Scott's LOI website.
You guys out there?! Your children need you!
I am really pulling for this guy, even more given the Freep assault on his character. Dammit all to hell.
Signed with Michigan!

So... I think that we are in a recruiting battle with Fort Scott Community College. I think we are screwed I mean come on we went 5-7 last year!
I mean look, if some kids are picking MSU over Michigan, what's to stop them from picking Fort Scott CC over M?!
I read that he REALLY enjoyed his visit to Fort Scott. Loved the coaches, loved the campus. About his visit, Dorsey said, "Rural Kansas is much nicer than Ft. Lauderdale. I could really see myself starting a life here."
I think we are fighting an uphill battle here, guys.
FML at first i thought this was an april fool's joke
but wear the best soul cup money can buy
Don't have a rivals account, but they have a story on it. Anyone know if there is anyone good info in it?
If you have a Scout subscription, and you are looking to set your mind at ease about this...now would be a good time to utilize your subscription.
O DON'T DO IT!
It's not uncommon to see players that are on the fence (academic qualifying) sign LOI to JCs as a backup plan. This isn't a story...it's just sensationalizing what we already knew. Don't panic & take it like a man.

If you honestly think Dorsey will ever play a down of football at Michigan.
Not gonna happen.
