Freshmen Spring Football Numbers
According to Victors Valiant on Twitter, these are the freshmen's numbers for at least the spring.
Devin Gardner #7
Stephen Hopkins #33
Jerald Robinson #83
Austin White #23
Ricardo Miller #82
and Jeremy Jackson #17
Shocker? Shocker!
They also state that "Rumor has it, Tate Forcier to switch to # 4, his old High Scool number."
Makes sense, he wanted to wear it last year, but Minor had it.
I thought that there were 7 freshman that had enrolled early? If so, who am I forgetting????
Pace, I think

Yeah Christian Pace the OL
Sucks for those people that bought #5 jerseys last year
Or it just increases their worth - rarity, novelty = $$$
those who bought the mass produced #4 Brandon Minor jerseys the two years prior to last...(myself included)
I was pissed when Brandon Smith transfered, thinking my jersey was going to be playerless
Tate's number is da bomb
If Devin is getting #7..then TRob must have changed his number
March 13th, 2010 at 10:07 PM ^
Nah, they'll probably both wear it on the field at the same time. No problem there, right?

I've got one of those #4s. Bought it at M Den two years ago after the Wisconsin game because it's my lucky number, then saw Brandon Minor establish himself as THE MAN and was happy to have it.
Now I get to watch Tate play with it, and I'm even more stoked.
Lucky number indeed!

The number 4 replica I bought at Kohl's the other day for $7.52 on clearance will go to even better use.
It joins my 1, 2, 7 and 10 in the closet of awesome.
Sucks for those people that bought #5 jerseys last year. Why?
Are you actually serious?
great. . .
it is ok
i want a #7
My fucking head is gonna explode! I literally just bought an authentic #5 jersey. Hopefully Vlad gets in there. He is #5 right?
Gimme your jersey. Seriously. I'm sick and tired of people crying about how fucking worthless their jersey is just because nobody on the team wears the number or it's assigned to a scrub. Nobody's gonna come up to you at the game and go, "HAHA Nick Sheridan's number, you suck!" Gimme the jersey if you don't want it.
Woah take it easy there killer. I was just saying I'm upset because I bought it thinking Forcier would be wearing that number. I'm still going to wear it regardless if he is #5 or not.
So what does it matter if Forcier has the number or not?
Oh my god...
He's not happy b/c he laid out a lot of money for an authentic #5 jersey. Do you really think he wants to spend more money (aka "lose" the money he spent on the 5 jersey) for a #4 jersey?
Is something stuck up your ass? Butt plug perhaps?
This from the guy who was all pissed off somebody started a thread to talk about the golf courses they've played?
You have your pet peeves, I'll have mine.
I'm just saying I bought the jersey so I could have the same number jersey as Tate. Now since I spent all the money on it I'm going wear anyway.
But if you are sporting #5 and I see you, you've had it.
Of course, you can probably still tell the fat chicks at the bar (provided you're old enough to go to bars) that you are, in fact, Tate Forcier in order to possibly get a boob shot after spending $243.00 on drinks for her.
March 13th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
If you take the cross-bar off the top of the 5 and sew it vertically over the 5's lower bulge, it's sort of a script 4.
if you want a zetterberg jersey you don't go out and buy an osgood jersey, do you? No, you buy the jersey you want because that is the one you want. He wanted a tate jersey, at least as tate as he could get it without a name on the back, and now it isn't a tate jersey anymore. what is so fucking hard to understand about this?
Apples to oranges, dude. Pro team with name on the back vs. college team without. Guess what: It's still a Tate jersey. It's also a Vlad Emelien jersey, a David Underwood jersey, and a John Wangler jersey. It can be a John Whitledge jersey if you want. Is a baseball card worthless when someone gets traded? Why should a jersey be thought of any differently?
March 13th, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
no,thats pretty stupid actually. first off, what do baseball cards have to do with a football game? do you bring your cards to the game? do you wear them instead of a jersey? second, if he bought the jersey last year, when tate had the number, and if he bought it BECAUSE tate had the number, then it is a tate jersey. just because there isnt a name on it doesnt mean the jersey doesnt signify somebody. do you think a freshman last year bought a #5 jersey cuz he wanted it to signify John Wangler. this isn't fucking rocket science, dude
March 13th, 2010 at 11:33 PM ^
Wait, you mean it can still be a Tate jersey if Tate doesn't still wear the number? Whoa, what a fucking concept. Glad you see it my way.
Typically in college or pro sports people will buy the jersey number of their favorite player.
What's wrong with getting upset if that player changes his number?
I get the "it's still worth something, especially on a college team where the number will get recycled" ideology, but if the people want to be mad - let them be mad. It's their $$$.
Thankyou Beavis. I was having a hard time trying to explain it.
That's what Goodwill is for.
Come Monday, I'll be scouring the thrift shops, picking up #5 Michigan jerseys for pennies on the dollar.
March 13th, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
As someone who a Jason Kapsner jersey for three or four years before Grant Mason showed up, yes, it matters little who the number is for on the current roster.
i have #10. ring a bell to anybody?
If it's any consolation, single-digit numbers are generally worn by high-profile players. Numbers higher than that are more of a crapshoot. My #32 jersey hasn't been repped by many big-timers since Anthony Thomas left.
March 14th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
except for Jordan Kovacs?
March 14th, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
Vince Helmuth and Mr. Mister Simpson are pissed at you right now.
Is going to start offering an "ish" patch that can be affixed to #5 jerseys, for those who want to keep repping the Force without buying a whole new jersey.
Buy #69 next time. Then, you'll never be disappointed.
As long as you wash it first.

Until some fat, sexually deviant chick starts hitting on you because she thinks you'd be a nice lay.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:45 AM ^
Until I got her to buy last night. Also found out I can still run pretty fast drunk.
He's a bruising running back and got the same number as another bruiser, Leroy Hoard.
Highlights of Hoard start at 1:24.
Hoard was one of my favorite players of that time. Very hard to bring down...
Has anyone at Michigan ever run better in tight spaces than Mike Hart? His performance is even better when you consider that, Jake Long aside, he ran in a mediocre O-line era for Michigan (one that continued up through this year). Hopefully that will improve soon.
I can't help noticing that Michigan has had very few truly elite players at that position (meaning consensus All-Americans with Pro Bowl potential). Other than Wheatley and Thomas, I can't think of anyone who had 1000+ yards in an NFL season.
Well, I don't know how you define "Pro Bowl potential," but Biakabutuka and Perry were clearly elite college running backs in their final seasons here.
i was thinking che foster, but leroy was better
How quickly we forget Clarence "The Blur" Williams...
That son of a Gloria LeBron is going to screw up my whole world by switching to No 6. Dammit.
I've had my #7 Devin Gardner jersey in my closet since he was a high school frosh. Nice.
Russell Davis, fullback, 1975-78. Ran for over 1,000 yds in 1977; finished career with average of 4.9 yds per carry.
One of my favs from Woodbridge Virginia. Davis was a big time recruit, I remember hearing about him as a HS phenom
EDIT: Huckleby deep Davis close, two tight ends and a balanced line, Ricky "the peach" Leach under center, the ball resting 18 yards in from this the western sideline
