12/18/2012 - 7:45pm RIP Teddy

I don't post often. I knew teddy from IM sports. It took me two seasons to learn that he had CF. his heart and dedication in those sports made it unbelievable to me that he had so much drive even with this situation. CF is a bitch of a disease. One of my close friends from high school past away from it as well.

I will never forget our time playing IM sports teddy. You were a hell of a competitor and an even better person.

02/27/2012 - 1:51am Closing Time

As soon as the game ended it was cleaning and move out time. People were there cleaning Crisler til atleast 2 am. They had a cleaning crew come in to de-trash the sections and sleep them. The bathrooms were emptied and concourse concessions removed all of their stuff. Crisler is 100% closed. The players will only be practicing on courts in the William Davidison Player Development Center. They are tearing apart the concourse as well as the court. There will be a brand new court. They are breaking the court into pieces to give a piece to all previous Men's and Women's players. It is a pretty sweet gesture. All the banners that were hanging (Honored numbers, Big Ten champs, National Champs and even the Gymnastics banners have been taken down and put into storage. I've seen a good chunk of the design pictures. They look amazing. I'm really excited for all of Crisler Center to be done.

In response to the question below about players practicing. The Men's team tends to practice on both. There are 10 hoops in the PDC and 8 on the main court when the bleachers are pushed in. They tend to use both at the same time. It works great having so many hoops to practice free throws.

If there are any other questions, I'd be happy to help answer any I can.

12/13/2011 - 12:04pm All of it is fully

All of it is fully operational. Visitors used to be in the wrestling locker room. They are now in old men's locker room. (or old women's for women's opponents). The cheerleaders get the other locker room depending on if a men or womens game with officials in the wrestling lockerroom. Officials used to be up in the football coaches lockerroom IIRC.

10/23/2011 - 2:07am Really?

Your team just gets a huge win, and the first thing you do is go to your rivals blog to troll? I don't want to get in trouble for calling you a douche, but you're a douche.

09/20/2011 - 1:54pm Mid-October

As a semi-insider, it is looking like Mid-October. The players are practicing on their own. I've seen all the freshman there. They are all excited to move to the new locker rooms in the PDC. The court, seats, and new scoreboard look amazing. They are working hard and I believe they are on phase 2 of 3.

07/12/2011 - 2:01pm i want in

choices: michigan, nebraskea, wisconsin, osu, penn state, msu

07/03/2011 - 11:54pm sent from android

[email protected] please. Very much appreciated you doing this for so many of us.

06/22/2011 - 8:18pm "Melo was consensus #2"

Were you even alive then? Are you serious? No, Darko was THE consensus #2 to EVER team. In fact a few (like 1) had him ABOVE LBJ. Read The Book Of Basketball. Bill Simmons goes into this debate heavily. Prince was young, so we had no need for a SF. If anything i'd say we would have been more likely to take Wade. And no way we take Bosh. That'd be a HUGE reach. Also, we probably wouldn't have traded for Sheed those not won in 2004. I'll take a 'Ship and Darko any day over questions. The people who complain about Darko and say it was terrible pick, realize that at the time it wasn't. Looking back, yes it was, but every single GM in the league loved him.

06/14/2011 - 9:13pm i hope

you burn in hell for this. do you know how good of a whip this would have been for my fantasy team. you are a bad bad man

03/29/2011 - 4:48pm Renovations

The gold seats have been completely removed. The picture, of the gold section with a few seats left, are the seats that were test seats this season. The athletic department tested multiple types of seats. Also, if you attended games you would have seen one section of stairs in the blues with different colors. That too was for testing how they held up against spills. Crisler is closing on Monday. They were able to remove the golds already because the only event left is gymnastics this weekend. Attendance for gymnastics events are similar to womens basketball game, so the gold sections are not needed. The pull out blue seats on the  west side have been removed in the last few days. In fact, the hoops are, as well, taken apart and removed. The plans for the renovations are going smoothly and look great. Enjoy the update, and sorry for my poor writing skills (not an english major here).

02/01/2011 - 4:40pm I'm that housemate!

but yes. the other guy is an idiot and everyone has been tearing him apart. The Concordia winner is in his 3rd year and plans on going to UofM for Med School assuming he gets in (he will) so the $50,000 will really help him pay for that. He was pretty excited when it was official. Hope he realizes my birthday is coming up...

01/21/2011 - 2:14am Darko

The darko pick was the year before we won it all. Had we not drafted him who would we have taken? Taking bosh there would have been a H U G E gamble. We didn't need wade or melo with rip and tay (especially tay because it was his 2nd or 3rd year). Had we not drafted him and taken bosh you can say good bye to trading for sheed and probably goodbye to that championship.

01/21/2011 - 2:11am

that is a good article...he has made draft mistakes but also good picks too. sure some of those guys aren't here (okur) but he did draft him. It is tough for teams to consistently draft well late. Lakers? Sure they hit homeruns on Manu and parker, but I think duncan has a lot to do with their success. Jury is still out for me with Blair.

01/20/2011 - 1:56pm wrong

Read that link...i believe you are wrong..he has made mistakes but time and time again corrects them.

01/20/2011 - 10:48am twigs

Just because they are twigs doesn't mean they aren't reasonable answers at the 4. Case in point: Zack Novak

01/20/2011 - 10:46am superstar

it is tough to draft a superstar when you make the conference finals for what 5 or 6 years in a row resulting in a late first round draft pick. you don't see a superstar getting draft at 28th overall. That just doesn't happen. We haven't had a lottery pick since darko. It resulted in the 7th pick and we got greg monroe who has had like 5 straight double doubles or near that. You can't complain about us sucking and not having a superstar when we haven't had the chance to draft in the top 10 (minus last year) since 2001.

01/20/2011 - 3:03am LB

Larry Brown left. Sure he was "fired" but he wanted NY and Bill Davidson wanted him out because he was obviously bailing on the team. Going on medical leave when it was really a vacation. When your owner tells you to do something you do it. That isn't Dumars Fault. And with Flip...He lost control of the locker room. That's what happens when you have a headcase like Sheed. But it was obvious he lost control and the players had no respect for him.

01/20/2011 - 2:49am poor drafter?

Seriously? Tayshaun at 23, Stuckey at 15, Daye at 15, Afflalo at 27, Maxiell at 26, Okur at 37...don't blame the drafting. If you are bringing up the Darko bullshit that is a terrible reason. Look back at all the mock drafts and rankings. #1: Lebron #2 Darko...that was it...Some teams even had Darko ahead of Lebron. (i don't like to go into TheKnowledge format of all caps but...) EVERY TEAM THOUGHT DARKO WAS THE NEXT GREAT EUROPEAN BIG WHO COULD SHOOT....EVERY TEAM. Sure we would have been better off with wade or bosh or carmelo...but of those 3 the only options were bosh. Do you know how much everyone would have ripped him apart had he taken Bosh over wade, melo, and darko (at the yeah would have been good but then?). Also we take Bosh we never trade for Sheed and problem never win a championship. Sorry but I'll take that darko draft with a championship belt plus a horrid horry 3 to lose another 'ship in the finals over bosh (who is NOT a superstar) who probably would have bolted at some point, or Brown wouldn't have even played. What hurt darko the most was Larry Brown's displeasure of playing a rookie (especially one who changes his hair color every week). So please everyone read Bill Simmons Book of Basketball. He has a long chapter about that draft and how we probably wouldn't have won the title. Once you read that hopefully you will quit bitching about the darko "debacle"

01/20/2011 - 2:47am 3's?

For one Jerebko is out for the season so that doesn't matter. Also, last year he started at the 4. As has Daye. All three can play the 3 or the 4.

01/20/2011 - 2:39am touche

I agreed he isn't as attractive now; however, when we wants to be he can be great. Ever since billups left (hell even when big ben left the first time) it was clear he didn't care as much. When you have a new coach each year i'm sure it sucks and you lose the will to play 110%. Which is crap, but Prince has always been my favorite piston ever since "The Block". His defense has yes gone down but he is still and good defensive option (think of shane battier). When you are like him and one of the number one options is tough to constantly be as good when you aren't a real superstar. However, if in a place where he is the #3 or #4 option (say Dallas) he will excel. As a pistons fan I don't want him gone because I've gotten so attached and want to see his #22 in the rafters at The Palace (hopefully covering up the stupid banners for sellouts of concerts for Kid rock and Bon Jovi, no disrespect to either but come on). As a Tayshaun fan I want him gone so he can him another championship as long as it isn't on the Bulls, Heat , or Celtics. I really blame this teams situation on Mrs. D and Larry Brown. Had brown not bailed for NY we would have been way better off.

01/19/2011 - 11:22pm so...

Joe D has made a few errors yes but he is also the reason we won a championship (the only one in the past decade w/o a superstar) and the only reason we had such a great run of success. Now superstars are teaming up with 2 on a team (this is a jab at chris bosh who is NOT a superstar). Yes he shouldn't have signed Charlie V and Ben Gordon. But what superstar would come here? sure we could have waited and gotten Boozer, but no chance any superstar comes to the D except through the draft.
The worse thing about the "fire Joe D" clan is them bringing up Darko. That is the worse excuse possible. If you think that is all Dumars fault you are oblivious to the NBA. everyone and their mom had Darko the #2 pick after LeBron (Sum even had him above LeBron). I blame Two people for the down fall. Mrs. D who needs to just sell the team already and Larry Brown, who bailed on us for NY.

01/19/2011 - 11:20pm Prince is valueable

He is an expiring contract which in the NBA is GOLD Jerry, GOLD. Odds are he gets traded to a contended around the deadline. A team in need of a SF (Like Dallas now that Butler is out). Sure Prince isn't as good as he was, but he has a Gold Medal and a Championship Ring, which is more than Lebron and many others.

01/19/2011 - 11:17pm TMac

The T-Mac thing is nothing. He is on a very small one year contract. If he bounces back from injury it is a great move, if he doesn't it is a no move. It doesn't hurt them at all. In fact it is an expiring contract (even though it is very small). And if he bounces back big he would be a great trade asset.

12/29/2010 - 6:53pm Yeah

Apparently the Cavs are looking at the future. He is getting the nod at the PG spot. My guess is Gibson will take it up the court but Manny will guard the Point Guard on the other team, but I very well could be wrong.

12/07/2010 - 11:29pm izzo smash?

Is it similar to the reagan smash?

I tried to embed and failed...*insert sad kitten*

12/07/2010 - 11:18pm grinch

You're a mean one....Mr. Grinch

12/05/2010 - 1:41am wow

University of SOUTH CAROLINA....i hope you were being sarcastic

11/15/2010 - 1:28am woah

woah woah woah...there is a SECOND page. So you're telling me I have lived my entire MGoBlog life only on the first page. Shit. I bet there was a bunch of good material on those pages I never got to read. Maybe 10 different "fire rich rod" threads or 10 other "keep rich rod" threads...I am now extremely heartbroken

11/10/2010 - 3:12pm yes let's trade our top RB

yes let's trade our top RB for a QB who would start the rest of this year then back up next year to stafford...seems like a legit trade. If KAHN!!!!!! was an NFL GM he'd be all over this deal

10/30/2010 - 11:48pm Favre

Brett Favre's jean zipper

Brett Favre's cellphone

Brett Favre's texting skills

Brett Favre's flirting skills

10/22/2010 - 1:47am like when they played without

like when they played without him in most of the tournament and advanced to the final four?

10/11/2010 - 9:32pm If I were David Brandon

A. I'd be rich

B. I would be going to school for free because of A or I just wouldn't be in school and instead texting "naughty" things to Mary Sue Coleman.

09/30/2010 - 6:14pm deep

I always go deep

09/25/2010 - 1:31am Summer Classes

Not to be THAT guy...but he was here all sumer. Had a class with him. He is a really smart guy. One of my favorite players

08/03/2010 - 1:11am ABS

(or abby whatever nickname you choose to use. I went to high school with him and graduated a year behind him and at Mona Shores High School he was called Abs)

Has Justin Abdelkader been re-signed yet? does anyone know this info yet?

Edit: Nevermind. i looked it up on the "new" website that shall not be named and found out he was not because they were waiting for word on modano. with modano there Justin will be more likely to sign a longer term deal since he will be fighting for minutes for 4th line compared to signing a one year deal hoping to have a great season (which seemed more likely with more minutes without modano on the team) and thus having more power in negotiations next year. Hopefully we can keep the hometown hero (atleast i hope so)

07/09/2010 - 3:51pm via Bill Simmons mailbag

a writer had this to say and it made me chuckle since i'm a huge Dexter fan:

"When LeBron arrives in Miami, will it be Dexter Morgan's responsibility to "put him down" since he murdered all of Cleveland?"

07/01/2010 - 3:39pm In no way am i trying to

In no way am i trying to hinder your intelligence...but that is a horrible comment. Darko was hands down the 2nd best player available. every scout and GM loved him. Some even thought he could be better than LBJ. Joe D is a good GM. we won a championship and went to the conference finals what 6 years in a row. He built that team without a star. that is probably the one team to win without a star in the past decade. be happy with what we got and that we don't have a guy draft three PGs in the 1st round let along two back to back like in Minnesota. I love the pistons and i love Joe D and forever will for what he has done as a player and a GM

06/24/2010 - 10:39pm Cousins

It is not over yet baby!

"despite the drafting of Greg Monroe, the Pistons aren't done trying to pry DeMarcus Cousins out of Sacramento tonight, league sources say."

06/24/2010 - 8:03pm hope udoh goes to GS and take

hope udoh goes to GS and take Monroe...i'd be ok with that

06/24/2010 - 6:30pm Manny Harris

Chad ford has Manny going in second round to Boston (which i hate because i hate boston but i'd be great IMO for him)

I just ask on ESPN's Daily Dime Live Chat where he'd go and got an answer. Zach Harper (of Hardwood Paroxysm/Truehoop Network): "I don't think Manny Harris gets drafted tonight but if he doesn't, he's a lock to be one of the D-League success stories."

06/24/2010 - 12:59am If he played like McDyess

If he played like McDyess then yes really not that big of a contract. McDyess could play D and knock down the open mid range jumper. i wish he would have got a ring with us. It is a shame he may not get one. Definitely deserves it

06/23/2010 - 7:31pm did he refuse to work out for

did he refuse to work out for Detroit? Rubio i believe refused to work out for Minnesota...look what happened there

06/23/2010 - 7:07pm Eh he is just getting ready

Eh he is just getting ready for that tough defense we are getting back to...

06/23/2010 - 7:02pm headcase

you are right because headcases don't succeed in detroit (see Rasheed Wallace). Yes he has AI potentially but we already knew what AI was. You take away the headcase issue and Cousins is #1 or 2 draft pick. work the risk especially when our need is a big.

Edit: sorry that came out kind of jerk-ish. so i apologize. you are entitled to your opinion. However, Cousins has stated his #1 choice is Detroit and our #1 choice (realistically) is Cousins. I think (especially if we re-sign Big Ben) we could mentor him. There is a 1 Headcase per team role. Thus, why AI and Sheed failed. Having two headcases can lead to them hanging out and then you can get a fight in a palace

06/23/2010 - 6:55pm hated the signing

I hated the signing last year...hated as the year progressed...hate it even more now. we knew we would be bad this year. i wish we had waiting for this summer to spend. could have had a chance with Bosh or Amare or Boozer (i only would really want bosh from that group). Him and Ben Gordon didn't do much for me. Ben would be ok if we didn't already have rip and will bynum. Charlie V had little D and played around perimeter alot.

06/20/2010 - 3:02am favorite beer

that is by far my favorite beer. i like their summer shandy too. every time i drink sunset wheat i taste fruity pebbles and i feel like i'm in heaven

06/20/2010 - 2:59am you're saying you're saying there's a 1st quarter?!?!
