Labor Day Posbang!

Submitted by WSU to Blue on

College football is back with a bang! Wasting little time to remind me why I love the sport so much.  With many of us having the day off, and with so many great events taking place over the weekend I figured now is as good a time as ever to have a feel-good POSBANG.

What was your most entertaining game of opening weekend?

I'm just happy we can expect our Wolverines to jump in the standings at the expense of #5 LSU (losing 16-13 to the Wisconsin Badgers), and #3 Oklahoma (losing 33-23 to Houston).  Many of us were watching Texas vs Notre Dame, and Clemson vs Auburn, which were both nailbiters as well.

What are you cooking/drinking?

We have the barbeque going today.  We're planning to cook up some burgers with some mac and cheese and some rolls on the side.  Not sure how well mac and burgers go together but I'm willing to find out.  I should also have a Two-Hearted Ale sitting no more than five feet away from me at any given time.

Did anybody do anything?

I know Labor Day weekend holds host to many parades and festivals.  Did anyone go check out Arts, Beats, and Eats? I know Joan Jett was amongst some of the performers.  When I was younger I used to perform at various Labor Day parades as well.  Always some fun to go around!

Hope you are all having a relaxing long weekend.  Stay safe and GO BLUE!

Least fun Labor Day in a while - spent all weekend studying for my upcoming medicine board exams. But at least I got to watch some great football, and made some time to grab some Michigan beer as well!

So kind of personal here but I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. I was always a big guy but playing football through college kept me in shape at 300 pounds. After college has been a struggle and I am now the biggest I have ever been. My sister passed away in July at 29 years old and that made me think long and hard about my own choices and quality of life. Last week I met with a surgeon to discuss weight loss surgery. I have been eating much better and have lost 20 pounds in a week and a half. I have to lose 30 more to have the surgery.

Here's to everyone's health, both mental and physical.

Relaxing here.  ND/Texas was best non-UM game of the weekend that I caught.  Question for the board: I'm going to be traveling on the day of the UM/PSU game (Sept. 24). Is that likely to be a 3:30 p.m. ET start (and is there a chance it will be announced very soon)?  I need to pick a flight, and I'm trying to plan so I can catch the game.  Thanks!

We just returned from a family event where steaks and pasta salad and corn were flowing freely. There was also a water balloon fight which almost claimed my phone as a victim, so silly me for having it on me,but sillier mother-in-law for not warning me, right? Then again, where would the challenge be if I knew, so overall I can respect it.

The kids are slowly coming to the realization that school begins tomorrow, so they are doing their best to get everything device-related - gaming, videos, etc... - in right now.

2-1 Tigers lead, top of the 8th. Hopefully the bullpen keeps it together. Getting ready for the FSU vs Ole Miss game as well. EDIT: 1) it's the bottom of the 7th. 2) Alex Avila just homered on us, tie game 2-2
