If You Could Add One Rodriguez/Hoke Player to This Team
Who would it be? Who would most improve this team? Brandon Graham was great, but we are loaded at that position. I don't think Denard, b/c not clear how he fits. I'd go for either Jake Ryan (big upgrade over big question marks) or Taylor Lewan, who is perhaps not as big an upgrade over who will play there, but certainly better and gives O-line better depth.
Discuss.

Lewan and Harbaugh would have butted heads. Not a good mix in my opinion. Jake Ryan is my pick. Remember Shane Skov? Easily could have been that impactful.

Brandon Graham was part of the Rich Rod defense for two years. I think a place could be found for a future 1st round draft pick.

I'm with this guy HAIL HARBO. Brandon Graham was a beast. Dr Blitz maybe wouldn't need to call so many blitzes with a line of Graham, Gary, Charlton, Wormley, Glasgow, Mone, Hurst, etc.

I love what we have right now. Denard is a beloved treasure and I still wouldn't want him on this team because he wouldn't be at QB and that's where he was great.

Hoke was a coach in 97, that counts right?

I like your thinking!

But then, that would open up Tom Brady since he was on the same team.

Tom Brady under Jim Harbaugh is a terrifying thought? I would argue Tom Brady under Al Borges is a terrifying thought!
Now, if you mean terrifying to the opposition, then I totally agree with you.

You're talking about Tom Brady with information not available at the time. In 1997 Brady was behind both Dreisbach and Griese. When Dreisbach was hurt, again, Carr didn't turn to the 3rd string QB, Tom Brady, he went with Brian Griese. Even when he was a RS Junior, Brady was fending off a true freshman, Drew Henson, for starting honors.
Arguably it took coaching from the Patriots to bring out the best in Brady.

Brady was pretty good at Michigan (if just a bit overshadowed). If you watch the Orange Bowl, he looks mostly like the player that we know him to be today. Of course he became even better in the NFL, but I don't think it was a magical transformation.

But David Molk. Would allow Cole to either move back to tackle or literally move to any spot.

There are only 4 correct answers:
Denard
Devin
JMFR
Lewan
The better question (maybe?) would have been which RR/Hoke player would have benefitted the most from Harbaugh coaching/system for 4 years?
I still think Devin Gardner is one of the correct answers; I just think you'd see more variety in answers with this question.

Butt or Ryan. Clutch, impact players. And we still have one of those, so Ryan.

I have to go with the all-time leader for rushing yards by a QB, one Denard Robinson. He was by far the most productive player from that era. Much as I'd love to see what Harbaugh could do with DG, if I'm taking one guy to help me this year, gotta be Denard.
