OT: What's your favorite Michigan Football memory?

Submitted by ShittyPlaceKicker on
For me, it was the first time I went to the Big House. My family was from out west, but one day my mom surprised my dad and I with tickets to the Michigan-Penn State game; the same game where Chad Henne threw a game winning touchdown pass to Mario Manningham when time expired. It was incredible, and yes I stayed for the entire thing.

Honestly the first time attending a game at the Big House, no matter the opponent, is my best memory/experience. As far as a game, it would have to be vs Minny in 2003. I'm a few years older than Chris Perry but we from the same city in North Carolina. I had to videotape the game using my VCR because of it getting moved to Friday. When I got home on that Friday night, the game was over but I did not know the outcome yet. I started the tape and early 2nd qtr a friend called and asked if I had watched the game. When I told him I was watching it, all he said was don't give up on it. I remember the plays like it was yesterday and with Chris having one helluva a game and year, it was awesome! It's a shame my kids won't have the same experience of having to set the timer on the VCR to record something!

last game of my college years.   we won 24-21, walking off with the team and savoring the idea that i would never forget that game and also realizing i would never be on that field again as a student.

Way, way too many to chose from.  For games in person, I'd probably have to go with Braylonfest.  Sat in row 12 of the student section as a freshman b/c my senior brother was studying abroad.  To this day, loudest place I've ever been in my entire life.

Cherry on top was on Monday - I was in REL 201 with Prof. Ralph Williams, who came in & said, "On Saturday, I attended my first ever University of Michigan football game ....... WOW!"

Driving through a snowstorm across the UP on 1/1/98 to get to my grandparents with the radio on. Finally, we made it in time to watch the second half of the Rose Bowl. I was only 7 but remember it very well.

1979-1982, not sure of the year, sitting in the student section looking down the Michigan sideline.  Anthony Carter catches one over his shoulder for a touchdown.  Would have run us over if we weren't in the stands.

For me, it was fourth down. Notre Dame looks like they're making a comeback and they've got momentum. We all know what's coming, everyone's at the line of scrimmage waiting for the power run. Elvis takes the snap and hands off, and there is this pile of humanity at the line of scrimmage... Did they make first down? No! Elvis still has the ball?!?! Oh no, there's only one receiver out there, and he's double covered ... So Elvis throws the ball away out the end of the end zone where no one can catch it. But then this lone receiver wearing #21, draped by two defensive backs, turns into a blue and maize missile and somehow dives and meets the ball in the end zone! I think the stadium was pin drop quiet for a few seconds until an official raises 2 arms for a touchdown. Pandemonium ensues.

Beating OSU in 2011. Wasn't around to view any past wins in person, but I didn't care that it was their worst team in years. We beat them. That's all that mattered.

You think they didn't care that much about beating all the crappy Michigan teams they played? Nope. A win is a win in this rivalry.

And the absolute bedlam / insanity that ensued with 2011 UTL. Never been at a more "what the hell did I just watch" kind of game.

There was a great moment at end of the game when Anthony Carter and Bo Schembechler were answering questions for the TV audience. You could really sense the comraderie and the mutual respect they had for each other.

Must have been an Ohio game late 78-83 timeframe. I think we are heading back to the days of the Big 2.

Hands down it was the UTL1 game. It was my bachelor party weekend and I we had about 7 or 8 guys for the tailgate and the game. I lost my voice from cheering so much and could barely talk the next day. It is by far the most electric I've ever seen the Big House. For one night and one night only I wasn't lamenting how disproportionately quiet our stadium is compared to its size. The Pom poms in rhythm, 7 nation army blasting through the sound system. Epic comeback. I'll never forget it. People always forget the first three quarters were terrible but oh man that 4th quarter. Best game ever.

NorthWestern 2015, the kickoff return for the touchdown to start it off with the crowd going crazy, Lewis' improbable interception, the chants of "Defense" at the end and all of my grad school buddies going crazy was awesome.

I have some great memories of Michigan football but that was easily the happiest I have felt in the Big House.

The entire 1997 season. Rushing South U and the President's house several times, the time he invited us in to raid beers from his fridge, Rushing the field after the OSU game, all of it.
