Best non-Rose Bowl games to attend
I've never attended a bowl game, but I am considering trying to plan for it this winter. Besides the Rose Bowl and any national championship site, which bowls have been your best experiences? Which would you like to attend in the future? While we're at it, we might as well throw in worst bowls, too.

The Sugar Bowl was off the hook good. We sent the week before and spent time all over the city. The food, street music, atmosphere, and people are great. I hope to go again this season.

I have been to NO once, during college for spring break during Mardi gras... I can see a tamed down version being a lot of fun lol.. I'm not sure I could handle Mardi Gras twice.

Super Bowl.
Duh.
they are a kick. lots going on, entertainment, celebreties, and if you're lucky, you might get a good football game besides.
i mean, intellectually i can say that it could happen, but somehow there is just no possible way on this planet, in this universe, that it ever will. the lions can't even get their players (your namesake, megatron) to want to play for them, much less win any appreciable amount of games.
incidentally, you are the greatest receiver of all time, bar none. had you played on an actual professional team you would hold every record instead of just some of the records.

The overall experience would depend on what kind of weather you get. It's one of the reasons the Florida Bowls and the Rose Bowl are so nice - you're almost guaranteed to have have nice weather with the temperatures in the 70s/80s.
I've not been to the Sugar Bowl, but you can never go wrong in New Orleans. I have been to the Orange Bowl (the 2000 one), and I would not recommend going to that game. It is nowhere near close to the atmosphere of the Rose Bowl, which I attended in 2004. I had a good time at the Alamo Bowl between Texas and Iowa in 2007 (I think).
The Orange Bowl must really suck if you went to the Tom Brady one and you still did not enjoy it.
It was the conclusion of the most massive party I have ever been to - Y2K week in a house in Key West, single, and the day after New Year's. I was a wreck.
For fun, I looked up which bowls we have appeared in.. they're listed in chronological order of when we first appeared and then how many times ..
Rose 20
Orange 2
Gator 3
Bluebonnet 1
Sugar 2
Holiday 2
Fiesta 1
Hall of Fame 2
Alamo 2
Outback 3
Citrus 4
Capitol One (Outback) 1
Buffalo Wild Wings (Citrus) 1
Florida is nice, but a different trip would seem to be a major draw for tv considering michigan fans traveling. The one standout we've never been invited to is the Peach Bowl.
The Capital One Bowl was the Citrus.
But didn't we play in a weird outback bowl?
The Outback and Hall of Fame are the same bowl. Not sure which particular game you're referring to.
BTW, we've played in two separate bowls with "Buffalo Wild Wings" in their name - one in Arizona (in 2013) and the Citrus Bowl this year.
This is why these bowls need to keep their original name and append the sponsors name to it, or vice versa: Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus bowl, Chick Fil A Peach bowl, etc..
That's actually what the Citrus Bowl did this year: Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
The Big Ten aligns with the SEC east most of the time. It'd be nice to rearrange that and get to play their west teams more often.

For the combination of pagentry and tradition, it's hard to beat the Army-Navy game in Philly every December.
The game and stadium suck, but I had a good time in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl.
all the way around. Food and jazz clubs are superb. I also liked the simple pleasure of the fresh coffee and beignets (sp?) in the morning.
i have been there for some barn burners. year-in and year-out, it has had some of the best games ever for sheer excitement, close scores, some high scoring affairs, etc.
plus it's in san diego. if you're nice mabe mgobrewmom will help you plan that trip since she's right up the road from qualcomm (true name, jack murphy stadium, or simply, 'the murph')

Fiesta Bowl, both in Tempe and in Phoenix is a good time. I would say Sugar Bowl, but I came out of my drunken stupor midway through the second quarter (I remember when I had my first beer...)
In terms of rivalry games, Army-Navy is a must for any football junkie, Iron Bowl is bonkers (Tuscaloosa is a mad house), and Florida-Georgia is a party with a football game at the end of it (Jacksonville is lacking, but the beaches are really down to earth, fun, and with good food).
It is a fine city with plenty of unique distractions and the locals have a long love for football (Broncos of course). Plus the majority of population influx during the past 15 years has been from the midwest. A Michigan game would be extremely well-attended.
