Spring Game to be at 6pm; Gentry to TE full-time, Khalid Hill at FB

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

At Harbaugh's signing earlier at MDen, he said the spring game would be played at 6pm on Friday, April 1st. I realize I already created a thread on the spring game being April 1 but the time was not announced yet and that is a pretty key detail for a Friday game.

EDIT: also appears he's having a presser now.

Khalid Hill is going to work at fullback. Zach Gentry will stay at TE

Harbaugh said Mason Cole will get work at center right away when spring starts. Peppers is full go.

Harbaugh says all the early enrollees are doing well. He singled out Carlo Kemp: 'He looks like he's been here for years.'

Good point... but I have a feeling that the actual athletic department cares about spring game attendance. And that half the reason for trying a night game for the Spring Game was to make it a better atmosphere in hopes of sparking attendance. It also has some importance from a recruiting aspect since it's usually a pretty big recruiting event.

Or maybe it's actually just because Harbaugh wanted the game on Bo's birthday. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they used that factoid to help advertise the game itself.

well, that has nothing to do with it being a friday. if it is the biggest in 10 years, its because of the state of the program (rocket ship to the moon, all aboard)!

it could be on a tuesday and beat attendence of 5 of the last 10 years, at least in terms of fan interest (or apathy, due to the record of the lasit 7 years, minus last year and the sugar bowl year)

Who'll be competing in the B1G championship team finals at 7:00 pm in Columbus (YTC).  Yes, they're in a rebuilding year (with lots of talented freshmen who are getting better every week), but they won't be able to watch the spring game should they choose to.

Has Spring Game attendance ever been that big? Also for a lot of folks the office gets pretty.......empty on Friday afternoon, would not be shocked to see a similar dynamic this time around. I have a feeling there'll be a lot of "working remotely" going on.

Well I get out of work at 5pm, and most likely won't be able to make it. Wish I could, as a season ticket holder who needs to sell this seasons tickets I was very excited to make it to the spring game. Unfortunately no UM football for me this year.

Snake Eyes. You got this.
One can always turn a negative into a positive if they try hard enough. Maybe even tell your boss you are "volunteering" for a good cause. Go volunteer...and then go to game! Nothing wrong with that!

Is there anyone here who's not excited about Jim Harbaugh and every team he fields at UM?? If so...I don't believe u.

Ha. Back to back comments...

"Terrible idea." "Fantastic idea."

And both with solid upvotes. Sounds controversial.

I have no opinion since I'm stuck in Oklahoma. I will watch on TV regardless. Although it is possible I will be planning a day of fishing that Saturday, so maybe I will have an opinion. Too early to tell for me.

I have no idea about anywhere else, but over here in my part of West Michigan, Friday April 1 is the first day of spring break for the kids.  They actually have that day off, so it would be pretty easy to drive over, take in the game and head a little further on down the line toward someplace warm.

As long as Gentry and Hill are cool with this let's roll.  Gentry could be a great tight end.  The potential is there.

I hadn't thought of this before, but the move from QB to TE under Harbaugh might be easier than under another coach.  If Jim Harbaugh - with his history of developing QBs and TEs - tells you that you're better-suited to play TE, I think you're more prone to listen to him than, say, Brady Hoke.

I'm not knocking Hoke here, but he's a DL guy.  With Harbaugh's unique expertise in the two positions, it gives additional credibility to the suggested move.
