Rashad Weaver Decommits

I'm sure there will be more mudslinging from this one.

EDIT: For those who didn't click the link, he says that JH says they didn't know if they would have room for him and ultimately offered him a PWO. He does thank JH and UofM for the opportunity. Not as bad as Swenson, but some will overreact to it.

Weaver just tweeted that he doesn't think anything poorly of Harbaugh and that he isn't trash like people are calling him. He wrote in the note what he was told. So people need to take a chill pill before everyone flips the fuck out even more. In this social media age shit always dumps out quick and looks bad but there is always an opposite side to the story and a truth. Let's calm down and drink a beer.

"Harbaugh is not garbage or trash like u guys are calling him. It his team and he knows what he is doing. And no shots were taken at Michigan. Just put in my letter what I was told." - Rashad Weaver, per Twitter

Alright guys. This is the truth. Michigan is becoming a football machine, a system. You'll either produce on the field or not get a free ride to one of the best universities in the world. Is it tough when kids can't come? Yeah, that'd suck. We're looking at a thing called a non-commitable offer, common at Bama. It's a backup plan, in case we miss out on someone better. This machine is completely objective. We're becoming Alabama. We're going to win big. We won't cut ethical corners, like Bama, because this is Michigan, but it isn't going to be sunshine and rainbows. Schembechler likely didn't employ these tactics because now, the separation between Bama and a Wisconsin type team is becoming HUGE. The purpose of this machine? Churning out all Americans, heismans, national championships, first rounders, etc. This is unprecedented at Michigan. We're "getting with it". Our resources are matched by very, very few universities, arguably none, and we're finally using them. Do the positives of the Michigan Machine outweigh the harsh reality? Hail yeah.

I dont get it. This type of thing happens at every school, every year. Some kids are told they might not have a spot. If they dont have a spot, they will be a PWO. That's pretty normal. Case in point - Norfleet. He lucked out and got a spot on signing day. Others didnt.

Other kids are told they definitely have a spot. And they get their spot. They are the reason other kids might not get a spot. And if they go elsewhere, then spots might open up. Which is what happened with Norfleet.

Why is any of this an anomoly?

Not good.

Looks like DPJ is going to OSU anyway.  Every time someone commits to OSU he congratulates them on twitter and calls them "bro" and "fam" and does nothing for UM commits.

1.) DPJ IS as close as it comes to a "must get" recruit. When an in state kid from your pipeline school is one of the most talented guys to emerge from your state in a long time and plays a position of need, that's a big flashing sign saying *TOP PRIORITY." The fact that he's currently favoring another school is the staff's job to fix. 2.) That being said, if OSU is his top choice because of what we did to Swenson and Weaver, that's ludicrous. Pot to kettle, bro.

Gaining a commitment from Norfleet on signing day as a result of having enough open spaces is significantly different than telling a kid who has been committed for many months that there is a 50/50 chance that there will not be a spot for him on signing day...I'm not saying there is anything wrong with how the Weaver situation was handled, but to act like this parallels the Norfleet situation, or that pushing guys out of the class is happening at all schools seems pretty innacurate.

If all you complainers and moaners care so much about these 18 year olds and how they are being treated, why are you so heavily invested in college football when you see clear as day how they're being exploited?

Why are yall shocked? When Harbaugh got the job, it was a post stating that this is what Harbaugh does with recruiting. So now you pissed because it's making Michigan look bad. I for one love the way this class is going and am looking forward for some more decommitts so we can get some better players. The kid was a 2 star that got bumped to a 3 because he was committed to UM and yall on here whining again. Anyway, buckle up because when one decommit, another kid is about to commit.

Realized his post was misleading and tweeted out that he was not taking a shot at Harbaugh or Michigan. Weaver was told this was a possibility long ago. That's why you visit Temple. Nothing to see here. But that won't stop the talking heads from saying Harbaugh is the devil.

Good luck to the young man. He is inline for a scholarship and a better chance to play at Temple. Harbaugh is at least telling them the truth now while there is still time. Harbaugh is in this to win it all and bring this storied program back to the way it use to be and beyond. We will soon not have hear about losing to Michigan State or the shit ball team from Columbus.

As Michigan alum, we want the best players.  We also want to win with class, recruit with class etc.  I'm not happy about the Swenson and Weaver situations simply because I feel for those kids.  Fortunately, they wouldn't have received offers if they weren't talented and they will end up playing college football and hopefully getting their degree.  I don't begrudge them one bit for feeling slighted.  If that was me or my kid, I'm sure I'd be upset.

I also don't think Harbaugh should be ripped (too hard) for this.  I honestly think he underestimated the talent that would come a calling.  Given his enthusiasm, he probably wanted to also promote his camp approach by offering a bunch of these kids.

Whether or not Harbaugh ever addresses this, I do hope and expect that in the years to come, his approach will change and he will be more selective early on as others have suggested here.

Like others have already expressed, NSD cannot come soon enough.  A wild and tiring ride.

A hypothetical, and please state your opinion:

If Harbaugh got up to the podium on NSD and said "This is how I recruit. I came here to change UM back to its winning ways and this is what it takes. Do you want me to stay and do it how I think it should be done, or should I go back to the NFL?"

What would you vote? (Honestly curious to hear your opinions after seeing how JH recruits for a whole year.)

Of course we gots to keep Harbaugh.  But I couldn't ever see him just saying "love it or leave it."  I'm pretty sure integrity means something to him and the staff.  I also think that he will learn from this year.  No doubt about it.  I can't see lower rated recruits getting offers early on going forward.  And yes JH knows he's good, had an ego etc., but I can't imagine he feels good about the Swenson and Weaver situations (and probably others).

This here blog wrote about how Stanford had 18 decommits in one class. Some of those decommits seem to follow the trend we are seeing now. I don't think he is going to change his methods.

I still keep JH, fwiw.

The truth hurts for many to hear. Face it, some people have their own agenda and would love to stir up a controversy when there is none. We have pro-MSU and OSU people on here all the time trying to spin a kids disappointment into their own gain. I love the way this class is shaping up too and although I didn't want to lose anyone, I knew we would. If Dantonio feels a particular way then he should give the kid a scholarship and stop tweeting/posting BS.

And for all you weak-hearted Mfolks who can't bear the realities of recruiting stay off the sites until the season starts. Nothing unethical here, Harb is just rebuilding a powerhouse program and there will be some growing pains but in the end . . .

Those who stay will be Champions
